Republicans killed a measure this week that would have provided healthcare coverage (including most expenses) for American troops that were exposed to toxins while serving the country. Also this week, 20 Republicans in the House voted against a measure to increase penalties for traffickers. Both of these issues are ones that Republicans have repeatedly claimed to support, but when given the chance to do so, they failed the country. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Multiple times this week, the Republican party in both the house and the Senate showed us who they really are and what they actually care about. Of course, towards the beginning of this week, we had 20 house Republicans who voted against a bill that would've increased the penalties for human traffickers here in the United States, 20 house Republicans, including Matt Gaetz, who is under investigation for possibly trafficking, a human voted against stiffer penalties for these people, Marjorie Taylor green, Lauren Bobert, Paul Gosar, Mo Brooks, Louis Gomer. The usual suspects were the ones who voted against this. And of course, a lot of these are the same people who go out there every day and accuse Democrats, teachers, drag Queens, the entire LGBTQ community of being so-called groomers. And yet they're the ones voting to protect human traffickers. And then of course there was another big one this week, when you had Republicans in the Senate effectively kill a piece of legislation that would've expanded healthcare access for United States, veterans exposed to toxins in the line of duty, specifically, those exposed to agent orange and Vietnam and toxic burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan, 25 Senate Republicans banded together to make sure that that bill could not pass.

Even though earlier this year, the Senate already passed their version of this bill. It had then gone to the house, the house made some tweaks. So the Senate had to re vote on it. And this time Republicans said no, because they were upset that Democrats had worked out a deal for their reconciliation bill. So they wanted to take it out on the Democrats by screwing over veterans that had been poisoned while serving our country. And that of course is the issue that, uh, John Stewart, former host of the daily show has been out there on the forefront with. He has been doing interviews. He has had, uh, uh, press conferences. He has absolutely demolished the Republican party. Um, I wanna read some of his quotes here. They're they're, you know, very colorful language. So just a warning on that. Um, but he called those Republicans quote, stab vets in the back senators. He then added PS, the Republican caucus and their empty promise to our veterans. Then he specifically called out, uh, retiring Republican Senator, pat Tomi. And he said, congratulations, Senator Tomi, you successfully use the Byzantine Senate rules to keep sick veterans suffering. Kudos. I'm sure you'll celebrate by kicking a dog or punching a baby or whatever terrible people do for fun.

And I think, uh, to be honest with you there, John Stewart has a really good point, right? The Democrats could put forward legislation

Called the puppies are cute act of 2022, and you would still have Republicans voting against it because well, if the Democrats are for it, we clearly have to vote against this thing. Even though we agree, puppies are cute. We just don't want Democrats to have any kind of victory here. It's the same thing. Republicans talk a big game about being the party that supports the troops. Okay. Well, will you give them healthcare? I mean, they were poisoned while serving our country in, in active duty, they were poisoned. So, so can we take care of them? Oh no, no, no, we can't do that. We don't support the troops that much. Okay. Will you guys, you know, talk a big game about human trafficking and predators and, and groomers and all that. So how about we crack down on those people?
