According to a new book due out next week, Melania Trump was so disturbed by her husband's handling of the COVID pandemic in the early days that she actually reached out to Chris Christie to talk some sense into Donald. Obviously that didn't work, and neither did her alleged warnings to her husband that he was "blowing this." Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains how different things could have been if Trump had listened to his wife.

According to a new book that is due out next Tuesday by a New York times reporter and a reporter from the new Yorker, Melania Trump was disgusted by her husband, Donald Trump's COVID 19 pandemic response. She told him, according to these reporters that he was blowing it, that he was screwing up by not taking the pandemic seriously in the very early days of it. Let me read this. you're blowing this. She recalled telling her husband the author's right in the book due out Tuesday, this is serious. It's going to be really bad and you need to take it more seriously than you're taking it. He had just dismissed her. You worry too much. She remembered him saying, forget it, but Melania didn't forget it. And I guess the one good thing Melania has ever done was at that point when she realized, okay, I can't get through to you.

Clearly, Donald Trump has never gonna take advice from a woman. So what she did after that, according to the authors was she then called up Chris Christie, who at the time was obviously still on Donald Trump's good side, right? Still a, you know, friend, an ally. So Melania allegedly calls up. Chris Christie tells him the same things. Like, look, this guy's not taking it seriously. He won't listen to me. I need somebody that he actually trusts and believes to tell him how bad this is and how badly he is screwing it up. Now. I don't know, cuz I haven't seen the books, not out yet. All we've got are these excerpts. I don't know if Chris Christie ever made the call to Trump. And because of that, don't know if Donald Trump responded to Chris Christie. But what we do know is that Donald Trump continued to do absolutely nothing about the pandemic other than, of course, to downplay it in the media with his little daily briefings that he thought were, was doing him so much good, but ended up tanking him completely.

But Melania was right. And I know that's a weird thing to say, but she was absolutely right. You're screwing this up. Think about how different things could be in the United States today had Donald Trump taken that pandemic seriously had in the very early days of it, he said, listen, we gotta stop international travel into the United States point blank done and done people go out there, wear your masks. It's nothing. If you can't handle it, you're a weakling. Stay inside social distance, get away from each other. Don't stand near another person. Work from home. We've got the technology. If not, we'll invest in the technology to make sure everybody can work from home. He could have been a leader, right? He could have made Republicans at the forefront of wearing masks, but he did the opposite. And I guess, I mean, if you wanna call it a silver lining, the only good thing about his terrible response is that it cost him the election. Had we not been in a pandemic in the year 2020 Donald Trump would be president today, but we have a million people that died. And I, I would rather have those million people alive,

Even if it meant Donald Trump was still president. And I think a lot of people may agree with me. A lot of people may disagree with me. I don't know. I don't care. I have family members that are in that tally of the list of people died. My friends, people, I went to school with people I've worked with.

It would be better for them to be alive. And Donald Trump could have done that, but he made the decision not to.
