YouTube Description
as posted by the channelSaudi Arabia has decided to cut supplies to OPEC in order to drive up the price of gasoline for consumers all around the globe. This comes as gas (and oil) prices were beginning to fall once again, which means fewer profits for Saudi Arabia. This move is further proof that we need to switch to renewable energy in order to starve the oppressive regime of the cash that they love so much - but there are other things the US could do to punish the country, too. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses the options.

On Wednesday of this week, OPEC nations of course, run basically by Saudi Arabia, decided to slash oil production across the globe because they wanna raise oil prices, the price per barrel they wanted to go up so they can make more money off it, you know, artificially limit supply to increase the price. That's what OPEC decided to do this week. Very clear, very obvious. They've stated it. It's not like it's a secret. They're making everybody know this is what we're doing because we have all the power cuz we got all the oil. Now of course, this runs contrary to what President Biden had wanted the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to do. When he went groveling to them saying, Please increase oil production. And they listened to him, waited for him to leave and then said, we're gonna do the opposite because right? And that's what they did.
So now we have progressive lawmakers, Rohan, Bernie Sanders, that are calling on the Biden administration to immediately and possibly forever cease selling any United States weapons to Saudi Arabia. Roka actually said they need us far more than we need them, and he is a hundred percent right. But here's the thing, I don't want to just stop selling them weapons until they increase oil production. I want to stop selling them weapons for all of eternity for now and forever, even without the threat of oil prices going up. We shouldn't have been selling them weapons in the first place. They're using those weapons to kill innocent people in the Middle East. Sometimes they're selling those weapons to the people who turn around and kill United States soldiers with them. Those are facts. Those are well documented facts about what is happening at the hands of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. So here's the thing. I don't care if they increase production, I don't care if they decrease production. We should never, under any circumstances, ever again be doing business with Saudi Arabia. A country that's so far this year has beheaded, I think 172 people, most of them political prisoners. They've sent two separate women to prison for criticizing Saudi Arabia on Twitter, one for 45 years, the other for 38 years for criticizing the government on Twitter.
And I promise you, they're not actually going to prison for that many years. They will never be heard from again, because that's what they do. That's what these human rights abusers do in Saudi Arabia. And we should be ashamed of ourselves as a country, forever doing business with them forever, sending them our weapons. So, no, I don't want to temporary. We're not gonna sell you weapons until you fix the oil thing F it. Don't ever send them weapons ever again. No matter what they say or do. And here's the thing, you wanna
Really stick it to Saudi Arabia. We can do much better than just not selling 'em weapons. You know what we could do as a country? We could move past fossil fuels. You wanna strip these human rights abusers of their power. That's what you do. You hit 'em in the pocket books. The only resource they have is oil. And if we can make that resource obsolete to where it doesn't matter to where nobody needs it, they just lost all their power. All of it. And that's what we as a country, what we as a planet have to do. Not just to stick it to Saudi Arabia, but you know also for the survival of the human race. Because climate change is getting worse by the week. That's what we have to do.
