Marjorie Taylor Greene tried to appeal to racists this week by posting a photo of herself at a Confederate monument, but she couldn't have been more confused. She was actually posing in front of a UNION soldier monument, making her attempted "triggering" of the liberals and the appeal to her base fall flat. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

On Tuesday evening, Marjorie Taylor Green decided to make a gigantic out of herself by posting a picture of her on Truth social in front of what she described as a Confederate monument. You know, to honor our nation's history and, uh, as she put it, honor the Confederate soldiers of the Wilder Brigade. I will always defend our nation's history. She wrote on truth, Social, There's just one problem. Of course, the monument she was posing in front of, trying to support the Confederacy and appeal to her racist base wasn't actually a Confederate monument. It was in fact a monument to Union soldiers in the state of Georgia who fought back against the Confederacy. So Marjorie Taylor Green tried to appeal to racists by saying, Hey, I'm gonna defend the Confederacy. Remember those losers from the Civil War? Yeah, those were the good guys. Nope, you messed up.

I mean, really, here's what gets me about this whole story, right? Again, this happened Tuesday night. I'm sure by now you've probably heard it, you've seen the photo, But here's the thing. Who was with Marjorie Taylor Green? Right? There's no way she just kind of snuck out of her office or wherever she had been by herself. Went down there and did this without a, without a handler, without an assistant. Somebody knew she was going to do this, but at no point did any of them bother to one look it up at two. Obviously none of them knew off the top of their heads that this was a union monument, but I'm sure, I'm sure there's little placards there that would tell you that, but I don't even know if any of 'em can read.

Nobody said anything. They let her do it. Nobody fact checked her. Nobody said, Hang on. What does this little thing say over here? Union Uhoh, Marge, we gotta get the hell outta here. This is wrong. Didn't happen. Just a gaggle of idiots trying to appeal to racists, because that's what this is, folks. You don't see good law abiding, upstanding, non bigoted citizens driving around the state of Georgia with a Confederate flag on the back of their truck. That's just not a thing that happens. Hell, I'm in the south, down here in Florida, we see it all the time. Usually that Confederate flag or Confederate flag sticker is right next to an NRA sticker a lot of times. Recently, it's next to a Trump one sticker. Five years ago it was next to a Hillary for prison sticker. But there's confederate flags all around, and every person down here knows what that means. And those are the people that Marjorie Taylor Green was trying to appeal to. But luckily she is so stupid that she couldn't even pull that off. She did, of course, end up going back and editing the post on

Truth Social to, you know, take out the confederate part because she realized after people had called her out that she was a complete idiot. But the damage was done. The people that she was appealing to, they're not gonna fact check it. They're not gonna say, Hey, wait a minute, that ain't right. Mm-hmm, they're gonna say, Well, look at their, she's one of us and we love her for it. And that is exactly the response that she wanted.
