One of Donald Trump's strengths, if you can call it that, is his ego. The guy thinks he's the biggest, the baddest, and the most beloved person to ever step foot on planet earth. And he's used that to his advantage, right? When you go out there with his big ego acting like you're the biggest and the baddest, you project the image that you're the biggest and the baddest. And people believe that you're the biggest and the baddest and that everybody loves you. Well, apparently Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a page out of Donald Trump's playbook, and this past weekend at the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas, Rick, uh, uh, excuse me, Ron DeSantis got up, gave a speech where he claimed that voters in the state of Florida would walk barefoot over broken glass just to be able to cast a vote for Ron DeSantis. Here's his full statement. When you stand up for what's right, when you show people you're willing to fight for them, they will walk over broken glass barefoot to come vote for you. And that's exactly what they did for me. In record numbers, we've got a lot more to do and I have only begun to fight.

Now, if that doesn't sound like somebody who's definitely gonna be running for president very soon than, I don't know what does, but oh my God, the audacity there, right? People will walk barefoot over broken glass just to cast the vote from me. That's how much they love me. They will do anything for me that is right there on par with Donald Trump. So here's what this tells me. One of Ron DeSantis shortcomings, of course, has always been the fact that he doesn't have charisma, right? He doesn't project that same image that Donald Trump does. He can't command a crowd the way Trump does. This is his advisors, this is his strategist. This is his consultants coming out and saying, you have to be more like Trump in order to attract the crowd that would ordinarily vote for Trump. You have to usurp the throne. And in order to do that, you have to be more Trumpian than Trump himself is, because that is exactly what he is doing with that ridiculous statement. There's no question, of course that, yeah, Ron DeSantis pulled off the biggest victory we've ever seen here in Florida. Like that's not an exaggeration either. He truly did it. Florida's demographics have been shifting. We have had more people move into this state who are republicans. Republicans have been far more successful in Florida with voter registration drives. It's a red state and a Republican clearly is gonna do well in a red state, but how well does that play elsewhere? How does that play in a swing state?

We've, we've seen that show. We saw it in 2018. We saw it in 2020, and we just saw it again in 2022, and it doesn't work out so well. So Ron DeSantis still has a long way to go. Yeah, he's acting more and more like Trump, but if he actually thinks he has a chance at winning in 2024, he's gonna have to not be so extreme and not be so Trump-like. But by not being so Trump-like that could prevent him from even becoming the nominee. The guy is stuck between a rock and a hard place, and he really doesn't have any way out of that situation either.
