Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker is facing new problems with his campaign, which could include tax fraud, voter fraud, or possibly even being disqualified from running for office altogether. The issue is that Walker claimed homestead exemption in Texas, which legally means that is his place of residence. But he's registered to vote in Georgia, and state law says that you have to be a resident of the state in order to do that (and to run for office.) Republican Senate candidate, Herschel Walker is in a heap of trouble right now over the fact that nobody can seem to figure out where the hell he actually lives. Does he live in Texas as he has for the last 20 years, or is he actually living in Georgia? Recently was revealed that Herschel Walker has claimed homestead exemption in the state of Texas for this tax year. Meaning he is claiming as his primary residence, his mansion in Texas. No problem with that, right? As long as you're just a normal person living in Texas, you can claim homestead exemption and save $1,500 on your property taxes. Problem is Herschel Walker is running for Senate in the state of Georgia where you must be a resident at the time of election in order to even be a candidate. Furthermore, he registered to vote in the state of Georgia a year ago while he was still legally living in the state of Texas, also claiming homestead exemption last year.

So as I pointed out on Twitter, he's either committed tax fraud or he's committing voter fraud. These two items, by the way, are indisputable. Herschel Walker is registered to vote in the state of Georgia. Herschel Walker did because the tax records are available. Claim homestead exemption, which means he's legally saying, I live in Texas. Georgia's voting laws state very clearly. You have to be a resident of the state of Georgia in order to register to vote, but if you're a resident in Georgia registering to vote, then you can't claim homestead exemption in the state of Texas. That's tax fraud. Now to be clear, it's minor tax fraud. Rick Perry, you know, former governor of Texas, former, you know, energy Secretary actually did the same thing. So he just had to pay a fine and pay back the money that he got, uh, exempted. So it's not a big deal, right?

Herschel Walker would not go to jail for tax fraud in Texas. So that's actually pretty minor. All he has to do is pay the money. He's got the money. He could do that. Voter fraud, on the other hand, that's a whole different animal. That's a much more dangerous animal. So if Herschel Walker was in fact actually residing in Texas but registered to vote in Georgia, that would be illegal under Georgia law. So of course would his entire campaign and he would be disqualified and not able to hold that Senate seat. Furthermore, a Daily Beast investigation released this week revealed that only recently did Herschel Walker actually stop renting out the home that he owns in Georgia so that he could claim that as his residence. The, the residence to which he is registered to vote, even though it, it was a rental property for many years and that is where he claims his residence now, while also claiming residents in Texas.
