YouTube Description
as posted by the channelRepublicans have backed themselves into a corner with their planned investigations, as many of the MAGA Republicans in Congress want certain corporations investigated for "going woke." The problem for them is that these are the same companies that are fueling their campaigns, and investigations aren't going to sit well with the people who keep you in power. But the Party is powerless to stop what they've already put in motion, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Republicans have kind of put themselves in between a rock and a hard place. They're about to take back the majority in the House of Representatives on January 3rd, they have announced there's about 40 to 50 different people, items, corporations, whatever, that they're going to be investigating. So we can expect at least 40 to 50 investigations in this coming year. And one of the things they wanna investigate, of course, are what they're calling these woke corporations. You know, these, these horrible companies out there that are wanting to combat climate change, or at least pretending to want to combat climate change. These, uh, woke corporations that are not giving money to the people who, uh, did, didn't vote to uh, uh, certify the election on January 6th, even though they immediately resumed giving money to those people. Marjorie Taylor Green has made it very clear she wants these corporations investigated and many other Republicans have since joined on board.
And Kevin McCarthy, likely the next speaker of the house, depending on if Matt Gates gets his way, he's already told Marjorie Taylor Green, you can kind of do whatever you want in exchange for supporting me for speaker. So they're going to be investigating these corporations, which typically I would have no problem with. If you wanna invest Facebook, investigate Facebook for their monopolistic practices or Amazon for the same thing, do it. If you wanna investigate their labor abuses, do it. If you wanna investigate these drug companies for price gouging Americans, if you wanna investigate oil companies for lying to us about pollution and climate change, do it. I do not love these corporations, and I want to see them punish for the horrible things they have done. But that's not what Republicans are doing. Republicans wanna punish these companies for the few things they've done right, which is of course, very stupid.
Not just because you're punishing people for doing the right thing, but because these are also your donors. According to a recent report, the US Chamber of Commerce, which has for decades, been one of the biggest drivers of the Republican Party, Republicans in leadership positions in the house aren't returning their phone calls according to this report from, uh, um, uh, uh, uh, Bloomberg. They're not returning their phone calls. They can't get a meeting with these Republicans and the Chamber of Commerce understands like, oh God, we've gotta do this. We've gotta talk to them before they come, after our members over stupid things, because maybe if they don't, maybe we stop giving money. So what do Republicans do? Do you let these woke corporations get away with it? Or do you just hope the public forgets that you said you were gonna investigate 'em and keep taking their corporate money? I know most Republicans would rather choose that option, right?
Let's just forget the investigations. Keep sending us the checks. Keep sending your lobbyists here. We'll take care of you. You take care of us. But people like Marjorie Taylor Green don't want that to happen. They have this imaginary, you know, feud with these companies and they're gonna take 'em on. Just like Ron DeSantis down here in Florida, took on Disney, right? Oh, I'm gonna make those bastards Pay. And Disney, um, has posted record profits so far this year of 23 billion, including $9 billion in the last quarter. Oh, they're suffering all the way to the bank.
