Indicted, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently tried to obtain a list of every transgender individual living in the state of Texas that had gone through transition in the last 24 months. According to emails obtained by the Washington Post, the, uh, Texas d p s Driver's License division, division Chief said this need total number of changes from male to female and female to male for the last 24 months, broken down by month. We don't need driver's license ID numbers at first, but may need to have them later if we are required to manually look up documents. And that request from the driver's license office actually came from indicted, Texas Attorney General Republican Ken Paxton's office.

He wanted a list. This man who's been under indictment for years and has not yet gone to trial, he wanted a list of everybody in Texas that was transgender. And as of right now, we don't know why. Now we know that Texas is one of several red states that, of course, in the last two years has passed legislation. Um, basically denying gender affirming care to minors. Not just denying it, but classifying it as child abuse, threatening to take the kids away, threatening to prosecute the parents, prosecute the doctors, prosecute any medical professional that says, yes, this individual appears to be transgender.

So why are you looking up how many transgender adults you have in the state of Texas that doesn't even fit with the legislation you passed? Which by the way, that legislation, of course, is very harmful. It's also unnecessary because gender affirming, uh, uh, treatment surgeries are not performed on on minors. That's not a thing that happens. But this is dangerous. This is the slippery slope, folks. This is, oh, how could they let that happen? It's happening here. You have a state government that directed an office. They control to compile a list of citizens who they deem to be undesirable. Now, why would you need to keep a database of that? Why would you need to keep tabs on who these people are and where they are? Are, are you gonna round them up? Are you gonna put 'em in in camps? You gonna make 'em walk around with big signs around their neck saying they're transgender?

What was the end goal here? This is the kind of thing that needs to be investigated. This is the kind of thing that needs to be shouted from the rooftops because this is how it starts. And we all know what it I'm talking about. First you identify them, that's step one. And Ken Paxton was already on the path to do that. We need to know what step two was because it never just ends with the identification. There's always a step two and we, the public, the people of Texas and every transgender person in there, they need to know what step two would've been. And then we need to take legal action.
