Kari Lake Cries About Being Sanctioned For Bogus Election Lawsuit

Failed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is now facing tens of thousands of dollars in sanctions for her failed attempt to overturn Arizona's election results, so she did what Republicans typically do when they get in trouble - She went crying to Steve Bannon. Lake claimed that she's "laughing" about the sanctions, which probably is accurate considering it doesn't really impact her at all. Her lawyers, on the other hand, have a lot to worry about, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Officials in Arizona are seeking sanctions against failed Republican gubernatorial candidate, Carrie Lake and her legal team for filing a frivolous lawsuit. That, of course, was tossed out of court on Christmas Eve this past weekend. $60,000 is what the state is hoping to hit them with. Of course, that will be up to the courts and as I mentioned, the lawsuit was tossed this past weekend. Kerry Lake was trying to get the election results thrown out so that she could play governor for four years, but before it even went to any hearings, eight of the 10 claims she had made were dismissed. And of the remaining two claims, she was unable to provide any evidence whatsoever to back up her claims. So of course the judge had to dismiss them. Now facing sanctions and having her lawsuit tossed out, Carrie Lake did what every good Republican sore loser does, and she went crying to Steve Bannon. Here is what Carrie Lake said on Steve Bannon's program yesterday. It's almost comical. If I didn't laugh, I'd probably pull my hair out because of the insanity of what they did on election day to sabotage our sacred vote and now they're trying to sanction me to pay for their lawyers. This is outrageous. It's outrageous, and I won't stop if they think this will make me stop. They're wrong.

Here's the thing, if you want to challenge the election results, you have every right to do that. However, you do not have a right to file a lawsuit with no facts on your side. If you had legitimate evidence showing that there was any kind of intentional malfeasance, any attempt to steal the election, you could have filed this lawsuit and maybe gotten somewhere. You were given every opportunity to provide this evidence. The court was begging you for it and you couldn't do it because the claims were totally bogus. For example, Kerry Lake's legal team said that the Maricopa County ballot issue where they printed the ballots too lightly to where they couldn't properly be read by the machines, they claimed it was done intentionally.

That's a pretty big claim. Unfortunately, they were not able to back that up with any evidence. Like so many of these other election challenge lawsuits we have seen over the country. What they did was they basically went on a fishing expedition. They said, all right, here's where we think the fish are now. We need the court to give us permission to go fish here to see if they're already fish. And the courts have repeatedly told these, uh, plaintiffs that that's not how this works. You don't just make up a claim and then hope to get documents later on to prove it.

You have to have the proof in order to make the claim first. This isn't a witch came first, the chicken or the egg. We know which came first. In this case, if you don't have the proof, you cannot file the suit. It really is that simple. And honestly, that's a problem for Carrie Lake's legal team because in addition to Carrie Lake, likely getting hit for maybe 60 grand, which she's got it according to uh, what I looked up about her net worth, she'll be fine. I mean, she's going around speaking at all these Republican events. She's getting fees for that. She'll be just fine. Nothing really bad is going to happen to her. Her lawyers on the other hand, they knew that this is not how lawsuits work.
