Fox News Tries To Blame Pete Buttigieg For Southwest Airlines Disaster

During The Ingraham Angle on Fox News this week, a guest host attempted to put the blame for the Southwest Airlines disaster on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, with a chyron proclaiming that Buttigieg was the person who left passengers stranded. This is obviously not even close to what happened, and Fox conveniently omitted the fact that the airline paid out huge dividends to their executives while ignoring calls from employees to upgrade their software systems. Southwest Airlines swears that today, Friday they're gonna have everything back up and running. We're gonna have people on flights. We're gonna stop the thousands of cancellations that have happened over the last week. Everything will be back to normal. They tell us, well, in the meantime, Fox News has found exactly who is to blame for all of these thousands of canceled flights. And to nobody's surprised, the person they found to pin this all on is transportation. Secretary Pete Butti, edge on the Ingram Egg on Wednesday, on a Chiron on the bottom of the screen, it said, mayor Pete leaves Southwest customers stranded. It didn't say that Southwest Airlines canceled flight left people. No. It said, mayor Pete leaves Southwest customers stranded. He's to blame. He is the guy. And Laura Ingram was out that day. She had a fill-in host man by the name of Raymond Aroyo who said, oh, mayor, Pete's gonna hold them accountable.

This guy's actually bragging about making Southwest put customer service commitments in writing. Yes, people want to get refunded for the chaos and have their expenses paid as they should, but that doesn't help them right now, to hold the airlines accountable, you have to understand the problem. And it's not clear this administration does nope. Dip. It's clear you don't understand what the problem is because if you ventured outside your little Fox News bubble, which by the way, other shows, the Five and Hannity both also were talking about how this is somehow Boogie's fault. But anyway, if you actually read what happened at Southwest Airlines, you'd understand that for many, many months, if not years, the union's been warning them that their computer systems are outdated and can't handle, you know, big loads. Like what we saw this year with the holiday travel, they, they'd been warned, the unions had been begging them to invest in a better digital infrastructure.

But you know what the executives did instead? I don't even have to finish that. You know what the executives did with the money? Instead? They put it in their own pockets. They gave themselves bonuses. They gave the C E O a massive bonus. They created huge wealth for all the shareholders while ignoring the internal problems that everybody else, the lower folks on the totem pole had been warning them about for quite some time. But we want that money, right? Cuz all that matters are the short term profits, the short term revenue for us. We'll deal with those other problems down the road. It's probably not gonna be that bad then, oh my God, thousands of flights get canceled. Thousands of people sleeping in airports all over the country because Southwest made a bad choice. Not so much because in order to understand it, you have to understand that corporations will always choose quick profits over protecting their customers. And that's something Fox News refuses to accept is reality.
