Republican Party In Panic Mode As Young Voters Abandon Them

The Republican Party has finally realized that they have a very serious problem with young voters. The problem isn't JUST that young voters overwhelmingly reject them - but also that as the younger generations age, they aren't becoming more conservative as previous generations have. This doesn't bode well for the Party's future, and Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why this is happening.

A lengthy new report on the hill shows that Republicans are starting to freak out a little bit, the party itself over the fact that they are absolutely losing young voters left and right here in the United States, about 65% of voters between the ages of 18 and 30 support Democrats over Republicans. Republicans only get about 35% of that age group, which together with the millennials, makes up the largest voting block here in the United States, even bigger than the baby boomers. And they're wondering, where the hell did we go wrong? Why can't we attract these darn young people? Why don't they like tax cuts for the rich? Why don't they like our attacks on women's reproductive freedom? Why don't they like our culture war issues? And the answer, of course, is quite simple. This younger generation, uh uh, both the 18 to 30 year olds as well as the millennials who are a little bit older than that, they're far more progressive than their predecessors.

They're far more accepting of different people, whether it's immigrants or whether it's the L G B T Q community. They openly embrace these people and they don't see them as pariahs. They don't see them as a group that we need to be discriminating against with legislation. They welcome them as equals as we all should. So that's why the culture war stuff is not attracting these young voters. On the policy side, this is an age group that overwhelmingly cares about the issue of climate change something republicans have been ignoring for many decades now. So you're not gonna win 'em over with that. Beyond that, Republicans have absolutely no policy to speak of other than cutting taxes for the wealthy. Like that's their only non culture war policy issue is, well, we go to cut taxes, even with the new Republican majority coming into the house. Now, what's their first order of business?

If they can sort out the McCarthy stuff, making the Trump tax cuts of 2017 permanent, the, the young voter doesn't care about that. They don't want it, and it certainly doesn't help them in any way whatsoever. So that's why they're struggling with this age group. But it gets a little worse for Republicans when you dig more into the data because not only does the data show that this group by almost two to one favors Democrats over Republicans, but it also shows that this age group, as they get older, they're not becoming more conservative, which is what happened with all the previous age groups. So you've got your millennials, you've got your Gen Z generation getting older, not old, old yet, but they're getting older and they're not becoming more conservative. See, that's the real problem. It's not just that you lost the younger generation and oh, we gotta wait 20

Years years for them to come over to our side. It's the flip that's not happening, and that's what's freaking the Republican party out even more because the people that are voting Republican are dying off. That's what happens as you age. And as that age group continues to get smaller, you've got a whole new generation of progressives coming up in the wings, and that doesn't bode well for the Republican party's longevity. Now, that's not to say that the Republican party is going away. I would love for it too. It might in the future, you know, two, three generations down the line. It's something that is absolutely possible if this trend continues. But until then, with each passing year, the ranks of the Democrats are gonna grow and the ranks of the Republicans are gonna continue to shrink.
