3:51Now PlayingA record number of Americans now view the US Supreme Court as "highly partisan" to the point where they don't trust the Court anymore. The number of Americans who view the court as partisan is overwhelming for Democrats and Independents, but three-quarters of Republicans think the court is doing a great job - not surprising at all. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this new poll.

According to a new poll, faith in the Supreme Court has plummeted to an all time low, except of course among Republicans. You see, this poll has a very interesting political divide. When you look at the Republican party, 75% of them look at this Supreme Court and they say, yep, we, we trust them. We believe them, we support them, we approve of them. But then when you ask the same question of Democrats, only 13% say, yes, we approve of the job they're doing. They are a legitimate court. We respect them, they're good to go. So 75% to 13% and of course independence, no party affiliation. Their support for the Supreme Court is well below 50%. So overall, when you average them together, overall support for the Supreme Court is still below 50%. A new record low for the Supreme Court. Now for Democrats, a lot of that has to do of course, with the Dobbs decision of this past summer that overturned Roe versus Wade.
It also goes back to Mitch McConnell holding that uh, uh, Supreme Court seat hostage during the 2016 presidential election, which of course ended up giving us Neil Gorsuch and then of course the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, where Mitch McConnell violated his own rule and Democrats act like they were shocked, like they didn't know he would do that to give us Amy Coney Barrett. So we got two justices on that bench that definitely shouldn't be there. Uh, Brett Kavanaugh, for very obvious reasons, also should not be on that court. It's a clown show now. It is a clown show. And finally, a majority of people in this country understand that. Now the question I have is, what the hell took you so long? Yeah, the last couple years have been exceptionally bad for the court, but y'all weren't losing faith in the court when they gave us Citizens United, followed by the McCutchen ruling that basically allowed for unlimited money to go into our elections, to where corporations or wealthy elite can buy individuals no matter the cost.
You didn't care about that. I mean, you cared about it, but it wasn't enough to make you say that, ah, this Supreme Court seems pretty sketchy. No, you were fine with the court. You just didn't like the decision. What about Bush v Gore? I mean, come on. That should have been the point where every moderate, independent or Democrat in this country looked at that Supreme Court and said, hold the hell up. That's not right. You guys don't get to tell a state when they have to stop counting votes, but they did, and they handed the election to George W. Bush and the rest is history. I don't remember y'all saying
That, that the court was illegitimate after the Heller decision, right? To put more guns in the hands of people that ought not have guns. There's a whole slew of decisions from the last 25 years that should have made every single person on the left say, this court is not acting according to the law. I'm glad everybody finally woke up to this, but my God, you've been hitting that snooze button for 25 years. It's about time you got up.
