Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders was chosen to give the Republican response to President Biden's State of the Union address, and it couldn't have gone worse for her. In addition to trotting out the same, tired Republican talking points, she lied her way through the entire thing, as she's done throughout most of her career. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why the response was such a disaster for Sanders.

Last night, of course, was President Biden's second State of the Union address. But according to Fox News, president Biden was not the star of the evening. No, the star of the evening. So says Sean Hannity was, in fact, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former press secretary for Donald Trump, who is now the governor of the state of Arkansas, was chosen to give the Republican rebuttal to the State of the Union, which is effectively a job where careers go to die. Look at Marco Rubio when everybody remembers the most. Uh, you know, the thing they remember most about him was how when he gave the rebuttal, he, he couldn't remember something. He reached over and grabs for his water. And that image will live with people forever. You also had other former rising stars in the Republican party chosen to give that address. Uh, Bobby Genal, the former governor of Louisiana's, the name that sticks out, they thought he was gonna be the next person to lead the Republican party, but every single one of them basically fizzled out after giving the State of the Union response. And I see no reason why Sarah Huckabee Sanders is going to suffer any kind of different fate, because her speech was not only nuts, but it was filled with absolute gaslighting of the American public. She said at one point, most Americans simply wanna live their lives and freedom and peace, but we are under attack in a left wing culture war. We didn't start and never wanted to fight.
I've seen gaslighting from politicians throughout my entire life. I have literally never seen gaslighting to that extent. It's a left wing culture, war folks. Republicans didn't start it. And they sure as hell don't wanna fight it. It, it's literally a hallmark of the Republican party. It, it's honestly at this point, Sarah, the only thing that your party actually even has is culture war, nonsense talking points, which of course you went on to spout all throughout your speech. You threw out all the usual MAGA buzzwords. You had woken there plenty of times. You talked about all of these Democrats pushing socialism, how the economy is terrible, which to a degree it is for working class people. But then you also said this, the dividing line in America is no longer between right or left, the choices between normal or crazy. Now, I actually agree with that statement, just not the way you posed it, because you are of course trying to frame the Republicans as the normal and the Democrats as the crazy. It's, it's actually backwards. You know, I don't care which side of the aisle you fall on, you cannot look at the Republican party today and
Say that yes, these people are normal. They're doing normal things that normal politicians would do. No, they're taking us back a hundred years in this country to pure unadulterated fascism. As I said, she talked about people in this country just wanna be left alone. They wanna live their lives in freedom and peace. She said, Sarah, whose party is out there knocking on people's bedroom doors regulating the number of sex toys they're allowed to have, that's not the Democrats, which party out there is saying that we would love to make it illegal for two men or two women to marry each other. Which party is out there saying, we want high school athletes, female athletes, to submit their menstruation records to us. That's not the Democrats and that is sure crazy.
