So this week Donald Trump decided to, uh, finally kick into high gear his attacks on Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis, who he views and the polls show is his biggest rival for the 2024 Republican nomination Trump sends out on true social. Actually, he retweets on truth social, an image that appears to show Ron DeSantis holding a beer, drinking with underage girls while he was a teacher, and they were his students or students at the school where he taught. Now this information, uh, has been around for a couple months. We have not confirmed necessarily that it is DeSantis in the picture, but it sure looks like what Ron DeSantis would look like, you know, 20 years ago. Um, so Trump ret truths it, as they say on true social and said, that's not Ron, is it? So he's basically trying to say that Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, who spent his time taking out the groomers in public education, is in fact a groomer from public education.
Honestly, it was a pretty good attack. I gotta give Trump credit for that. I enjoyed it. So Ron DeSantis yesterday, Wednesday while giving a speech, actually doing a q and a in front of a bunch of gas stoves because, you know, culture Warrior Ron gotta protect those gas stoves. He was asked by a reporter about these new allegations from Trump, like, Hey man, Trump went after you pretty hard. And instead of actually answering the question, Ron DeSantis appeared to malfunction because he's not used to being asked tough questions and this is what happened. Take a look. True
Social directed at you some somewhere insinuating
That you, so here, here's what I would say about all that. I get, get, I get, you guys want the controversy.
How would your proposed legislation against defamation address those posts? Uh, that could be considered
Damage. Well, if you think when we did the defamation panel yesterday, I made the point, look, I have a platform. It's different for me cuz I can fight back and people just know I face, uh, defamatory stuff every single day. I've been governored. That's just the nature of it. But I have a platform to fight back. A lot of these other people that are more little, they don't necessarily have a platform, uh, to fight back. And so in terms of our reforms, I really wanna empower them more so than people that occupy high positions like me. It just goes with the territory. You gotta have a thick skin. It's also just practically speaking, uh, I would not take time out of being governor to be fighting lawsuits. That's just not, not practical in terms of what we're doing. And I'd also just say this, I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden. That's how I spend my time. I don't spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.
You just spoke for over a minute and still didn't even answer the question. Like, Hey, um, are you the guy in the picture partying with the underage girls that were students at your school? So I don't spend my time talking about other Republicans and gas stoves. Folks text relief on my big sign here. Hey, hey. Right. I'm not saying that's an admission, that it's him in the picture, but it certainly wasn't a denial that it's him in that picture. Like Rod, all you had to do was be like, yeah, I, a guy looks like me, but it's not me. Can we move on and talk about these wonderful gas stoves we've got for sail back here? But instead, you malfunctioned for a full minute, like your brain was trying to come up with a response, but apparently you didn't think anybody was gonna ask you about that.
