Florida Governor Ron DeSantis returned from a multi-state tour this week where he was clearly, even though he won't admit it, running for President. And to top off the week, he returned to Florida and held a retreat right down the street from Trump's Mar-a-Lago. This is a major power move by the Florida governor, capped off with appearances from some of Trump's closest allies in Congress. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what happened.

Last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis kind of crisscrossed certain areas of the United States. Totally not running for president, by the way. He's just a governor from down here in Florida, traveling to New York and Chicago and a bunch of other states giving speeches and rallies. You know, just because that's what governors typically do, right? No, that he's absolutely running for president. You wouldn't have traveled across the country given speeches if you weren't trying to get out of the state of Florida. And then he came back this past weekend, and this is when he pulled the power move over the weekend at a Four Seasons hotel filled with Trump allies. Ron DeSantis held a little donor's retreat. He moderated panels. He had Republican senator Ron Johnson there who's of course embroiled in the fake elector scheme. He had Anne Coulter there who hates Donald Trump and did, uh, repeatedly call him stupid and done.

But he also had a lot of other Trump allies there. But having these people there for Ron DeSantis was not the power move. The power move was that this little weekend long retreat was held by DeSantis just four miles down the road from Mar-a-Lago. Now Florida's a big state. I know we may not look it, but to drive from one end of the panhandle all the way down to Key West is gonna take you about 16 to 17 hours. Okay? It's a big state. There's plenty of places to go is my point. There's luxury hotels and resorts all over Orlando. They're all over Miami. You don't, uh, key West, you've got some up in the panhandle. Not as many, but sure there's still some. Plus you got the Governor's mansion in Tallahassee. So why'd you have to go four miles from Mar-a-Lago? Like, that's my point is you literally could have gone anywhere in the state unless you were trying to make a statement with where you were holding your retreat.

And that is 100% what Ron DeSantis did, because he could have gone anywhere. We got luxury hotels on the beach right near our office. It would've been beautiful. We had a great weekend, perfect weather, by the way, but nope. He said, I'm gonna go four miles from Donald Trump's actual house, cuz that's where he lives. And I'm gonna hold this retreat. I'm gonna talk to the people that gave him money. I'm gonna talk to the people that gave him support. I'm gonna talk to Ann Coulter, who even though she hates him now, once wrote a book praising Donald Trump, I'm gonna do all of this right in his own backyard to let him know I am not scared of him. That's a power move. And Trump was helpless. Trump couldn't do anything about it. So there it is. I think

You, you add all of this up together and it shows that Ron DeSantis is absolutely not only running for president, but he's not scared of what Trump is gonna do to him or say about him when he finally announces that he's running.
