A convicted murderer that was put to death last week in Florida used his last words to trash Ron DeSantis saying that the Florida governor has done a lot worse things than he had done. When you actually stop to think about it, he may not be wrong. DeSantis forced the state to reopen during the pandemic and downplayed the dangers, leading to close to 100,000 COVID deaths in the state alone. And that's just the tip of the iceberg of the horrible things DeSantis has done, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Last week, Florida put to death an inmate that had been on death, uh, death row for quite some time. Manam by the name of Donald Dil Beck. Now, Mr. Dil Beck is accused, actually convicted of murdering two different people. First, he had murdered a police deputy, and that's what initially got him sent to jail. But then he broke outta jail. And as he, you know, when he broke out, he goes to a mall parking lot, stabs somebody to death. They catch him again, try him, convict him. He's on death row. Ron DeSantis, our governor, signed his death warrant and he was put to death last week. Now before he was put to death, I mean like literally right before the man was put to death, he was able to say his last words. And that man who admittedly has done some bad things in his life, used his last words to say that even though he's a bad guy, Ron DeSantis, governor Florida is much, much worse. Here are his words. I know I hurt people when I was young. I really messed up. But I know Ron DeSantis has done a lot worse. He's taken a lot from a lot of people. I speak for all men, women and children. He's put his foot on our necks. Ron DeSantis and other people like him can suck our, anyway, um, I I I get why you wanted to throw that last line in, but I I will say before you threw that in, that was actually a very powerful message. Um, even coming from a convicted murderer.

Here's the thing. Is he right or is he wrong? Now, I don't wanna rehash what this individual did. I do not believe that he should have been put to death, but he was found guilty of killing two people and I think he should have spent the rest of his time in prison. Absolutely. I'm okay with that. The guy's a killer, but is Ron DeSantis worse? So this man knowingly, willingly killed two individuals on two separate occasions. Ron DeSantis, through his policies, has killed almost a hundred thousand Floridians. That's how many people here in the state of Florida have died from C O V I D because of Ron DeSantis lack of leadership or because of his refusal to allow entities in this state to protect themselves and protect others from getting covid. But just because Ron DeSantis didn't walk up to these people and put a knife in their throat, just because Ron DeSantis didn't walk up to and pull a trigger, we don't get to look at him as a potential murderer. I don't think that's fair. When you make the decision

That ultimately leads to someone's death, you are responsible for that death In my book. And I would say that killing 95,000 people, a hundred thousand people is worse than killing two people, wouldn't you? But that's what Ron DeSantis policies on Covid alone have caused. He also has laws out there targeting already persecuted minority groups. The transgender community is absolutely at the top of that list. This is a group that already has an exceptionally high instance of self-harm. How many of them are gonna continue that, possibly taking it all the way to the end because of DeSantis going out there, passing laws, specifically targeting them? Those deaths would be on his hands, by the way. So I'm inclined to agree with the murderer that yeah, what he did was bad, but what Ron DeSantis and so many other Republicans have done is far worse.
