Donald Trump tried to approach the "likely" indictments from the Manhattan DA with a little more poise than he initially responded with by calling everyone a "racist," but even his calmer approach was a complete bust. Trump claimed on social media that the statute of limitations had passed on the Stormy Daniels hush money payment, but legal experts were quick to point out that this is a flagrant lie. After Donald Trump had a complete meltdown about the potential indictments that may be coming from the Manhattan District Attorney's office, he decided after that to take a a little bit softer approach. You know, he had attacked not just DA Alvin Bragg, but also Leticia James and Fanny Willis, calling them all racist, attacking Stormy Daniel's appearance. He went after Michael Cohen's credibility. And then after he calmed down a bit on the weekend, he, he sent out this message on social media. I relied on counsel in order to resolve this extortion of me, which took place a long time ago. Additionally, the statute of limitations has long since ended. And in fact, the radical left media one and a half years ago did a countdown on the statute of limitations, which was allowed to expire certainly a much different tone than calling everybody Investigating You a racist, which I believe is a pretty good evidence that his lawyers came up to him and said, Hey, maybe tone it down a bit and stop attacking the people who control your fate.

So he came out with this calm, metered response of, well, folks, it, it would appear that the statute of limitations has in fact passed and therefore the DA can do nothing about this ongoing investigation into the hush money payment, into Stormy Daniels, except legal experts have already pointed out that that didn't happen because a little thing called covid happened within that statute of limitation period, which was about five years. And if the crimes happened in 2016, statute of limita, uh, limitations would've expired in 2021. But because of Covid, all statute of limitations on criminal investigations were actually extended because prosecutors did not have enough time and or resources to be able to fully conduct investigations while we were at the height of the pandemic. So contrary to what Donald Trump put out on social media, no, the statute of limitations has not in fact expired. A fact that his lawyers would also know.

But the reason Trump, of course, is putting this out there anyway, is to try to make it seem like any indictments against him that may or may not come would be illegitimate. Now, I'm of the opinion that don't hold your breath on any criminal indictments. And even if we do get criminal indictments, please understand that it's most likely gonna be misdemeanor charges. We're not looking at hardcore felony charges against Trump with the Stormy Daniels Hus money payment, because in order for Bragg to find a reason to charge him for felony offenses, he would have to prove that the coverup of the Stormy Daniel payment was used in furtherance of a second crime.

So he has to prove two criminal things happened in order to hit him with a felony. And as we've, uh, basically what we know, he's not doing that. So even if we get indictments, it's only gonna be a misdemeanor. Trump's not gonna go to jail, most likely. Still a pleasant thought to think he might be hit with a, at least a misdemeanor charge, something, right? You know, it's about time this guy gets popped for something that he has done instead of getting away with every dang thing imaginable. But the statute of limitations is not going to save him on this.
