During his interview with CNN's Jake Tapper this week, Ron DeSantis lamented the fact that most conservatives and people who rail against "wokeness" can't actually define what that means. DeSantis said that HE can define it, and the proceeded to not define it, nor has he ever offered a clear definition of what it is. But "woke" is a great enemy for the Republican Party - a loosely-defined concept that can change to fit any narrative. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis actually sat down for an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper this past week where DeSantis complained a little bit about the fact that apparently a lot of the people out there talking about wokeness on the right, can't even define the word. Could you imagine something worse than, I don't know, a Republican traveling around the country repeatedly just using the word woke and not being able to define it? Because Ron DeSantis has a real problem with that. And Ron DeSantis has a problem with people doing that too. Here's what DeSantis told Jake Tapper. He said, not everyone really knows what wokeness is. I mean, I've defined it, but a lot of people who rail against wokeness can't even define it. And then Ron DeSantis proceeded to not define what wokeness is, nor has he ever defined what wokeness is, to the point where his lawyers were legally asked to define wokeness in court and they couldn't even do it.

DeSantis again, has never defined it. So that is a flat out lie that he told you, like, I've defined it. No, you haven't. Trust me, I have paid attention to every thing you have done for the last couple years. You have never once defined wokeness. And to be honest, that's the only thing you have working in your favor. Wokeness, or woke, is the perfect enemy for the Republican Party. An undefined undefinable concept that can evolve to mean anything that you want it to mean. Whatever your enemy of the day is right now, of course, it's the Barbie movie. Barbie is woke because they talk about patriarchy.

Eminem are woke because Tucker Carlson doesn't want to have intercourse with the green Eminem anymore because they took away her shoes. I wish I was making that up. Oreos went woke. N F L went woke. Basketball players are woke teaching about slavery is woke, transgenderism is woke. It can evolve to mean whatever they want it to mean. And DeSantis is out there saying, why can't these conservatives define it? They can't define it because they're choosing to not define it because there's not actually even a definition for it. It's whatever enemy you want it to be, right? And again, isn't that the perfect political target? A target that doesn't actually exist, A target that means nothing, and a target that can be placed on whatever thing happens to be you off on any given day? That is what wokeness is. That is the definition of wokeness. An ever evolving, vague concept that Republicans can project all of their hatred onto on any given day. Use that Webster's as the official definition of wokeness, cuz that's what it is.
