Prosecutor Thinks Trump Is Trying To Taint The Jury Pool With Social Media Posts

Jack Smith and his lawyers at the DOJ are getting fed up with Donald Trump's social media posts, and they wrote in a court filing this week that his repeated attacks on both prosecutors and the judge (Tanya Chutkan) could be tainting a potential jury pool. So far, there is no indication about whether the judge will hit Trump with sanctions or a gag order, but if the DOJ wants to push the issue they have a strong case for doing so. So far this week, Donald Trump has sent out posts on truth social accusing Judge Tanya Chut, the judge that's gonna be overseeing the January 6th trial. He has accused her of not being able to be fair in the trial, and he has also sent out posts on truth social accusing Jack Smith, the special prosecutor of being quote, deranged with an unchecked and insane aggression. And in a court filing this week, the Department of Justice, of course, Jack Smith and his lawyers told Judge Truken that these kinds of posts are becoming an almost daily occurrence from Donald Trump. Nearly every day he is out there on truth social, or he is out there doing an interview, sometimes even a campaign rally insulting these people, making these allegations about their mental stability. You know, as I said, unchecked and insane aggression.

And the prosecutors are tired of this crap. The judge should be tired of this crap. I mean, hell, she's the one who warned Donald Trump via his lawyers. I mean, he had to actually sign the paper though, that he wasn't gonna be doing stuff like this. And here he is in this trial, in the Georgia trial, in the New York cases, doing this same kind of crap every single day just about. But Jack Smith is not worried that his supporters are gonna, you know, do something horrific. That's not what's worrying Jack Smith. He's not even necessarily worried that Donald Trump is gonna end up intimidating witnesses to not come forward against him. What Jack Smith is worried about, according to this filing, is that what Trump is actually doing is potentially tainting the jury pool against the prosecutors.

Now, those of you who tune in to ring a fire every day, hearing me say that is not surprising because I've already said that. I said that weeks ago. I said, it's not about intimidating the witnesses, it's not even about encouraging his followers to do something horrific against these people. I told you then weeks ago that his comments, his statements here, have the potential to taint a jury pool, whether it's in Georgia, Florida, DC, or New York. That's the real goal of these comments, to put these crazy accusations out there into the ether, because you never know when it's gonna stick with somebody, and you never know who it's gonna stick to. And you know, basic lottery here, maybe one of those people ends up on the jury for him, maybe they don't.

But if he doesn't try, then none of them will end up on a jury. And that is exactly what Jack Smith is now saying in court, and he is right. Again, I wouldn't have said it if I didn't already agree with it, but that is what's happening. And it is up to the judge, like, judge, you have a responsibility. Now, Jack Smith has made this argument, he has filed this motion. It's a very good argument. It's time to do something about this, because the rhetoric will become worse as he gets more cornered, as he gets more afraid, his rhetoric gets even worse. So whether it's ting the jury pool, whether it's intimidating witnesses, or whether it's spurring on his crazy followers to do something terrible, all of those things are real possibilities. And judge, all judges, you all have the authority to put an end to it if you're willing to take that step. And at this point, the D O J is practically begging you to take that step, not just to protect themselves, not even just to protect you judges, but to protect the sanctity of these trials and to keep 'em fair.
