Rudy Giuliani Says He's Suing President Biden For Defamation

Rudy Giuliani announced this week that he is suing President Biden (allegedly) for defaming him (allegedly) during a 2020 event while Biden was running for President. At the time, Biden said that Giuliani was being fed misinformation by Russians and that he was a "Russian pawn," and Giuliani believes that this constitutes "defamation per se." That's a high bar to clear since both men are public figures, and it will be even harder since Giuliani is struggling to find lawyers willing to work with him. Rudy Giuliani held a little impromptu press conference this week to make a major announcement and know that major announcement was not that happy hour just started. So everybody get in line. It was in fact that Rudy Giuliani is suing President Biden for defamation because of a statement that President Biden made back during the 2020 presidential campaign. Here is the statement that Biden made. Uh, this was from October, 2020. In response to Giuliani's claims about the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop, uh, Biden said, quote, his own national security advisor told him that what is happening with his buddy? I shouldn't actually, I will. His buddy Rudy Giuliani, he's being used as a Russian pawn. He's being fed information that is Russian. That is not true.

It's not, not really the worst statement you could make. It's just President Biden out there on the campaign trail downplaying what his political rivals little minions are saying out there to the press. Perfectly legal, by the way, he didn't say you were an agent of Russia. He said Russia was just using you as a pawn by feeding you disinformation. So Giuliani and his press conference said this, as a result of Joe Biden's lies, people have died. people died because President Biden said Rudy Giuliani was spreading misinformation. That, um, I gotta tell you, I read the news all day, every day, learning that people died from Biden's claim right there. Uh, that is news to me. Um, kind of, kind of doesn't seem true either. Rudy, uh, as you, like, you're literally lying about Biden as you're announcing that you're suing him for defamation. Okay?

Um, he called me a Russian operative. That is a lie. That is false. Yeah, you're right. That is false. 'cause that is not what he called you. That's what's called liable defamation per se. Biden called him a Russian pawn. That's, that's what happened. Um, Rudy Giuliani then called Hunter Biden a pawn and said that the head of the mafia family, the head of the crime family is Joe Biden. So you're out there complaining, saying like, this guy's defaming me. And then you literally turn around and kind of tread that line where it kind of seems like you are defaming him. Now, he said, kind of, because President Biden, of course, is a public figure. So the bar for defamation for Biden to be able to sue somebody is basically so high that you can say whatever the hell you want about the guy, and you're not gonna be able to be sued for that. Um, that's not necessarily the case. So don't, you know, go do that. I'm just saying the bar for public hi, uh, figures, New York Times versus uh, uh,

Uh, anyway, the New York Times Supreme Court case, sorry, I forget who it was verses. But anyway, it set the bar super high so that politicians effectively really can't sue people for defamation. Oh, and by the way, that's not just for sitting politicians, as I said, it's for really any political public figure, which is also Rudy Giuliani. So the bar for Giuliani to prove defamation is also exceptionally high. And I read you the statement from Biden that that's really not defamatory at all. And Giuliani says it's defamation per se, which means he doesn't, he wouldn't have to prove if he does file a lawsuit, uh, that it cost him, you know, that it injured his reputation.
