Former Republican lawmaker Adam Kinzinger said during an interview this week that his family disowned him in recent years - not only for his attempts to hold Trump accountable, but mostly, according to Kinzinger, because he had "lost the trust" of Fox News host Sean Hannity. We are now at a point in our society where citizens are actually turning their backs on their own family members just because of what is said on Fox News, and that is a dangerous point that there may be no turning back from. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Former Republican congressman, Adam Kinzinger gave an interview this week to CNN where he admitted during that CNN interview that after, you know, January 6th, which is really when Kinzinger kind of turned against Donald Trump, and then he worked on the January 6th select committee investigating it and decided to kind of back away from the Republican party. He says that members of his own family sent him a formal letter letting him know that they are disowning him. We are no longer related. They told representative Adam Kininger, and according to Kinzinger, it's, it's not just because he turned against Trump. No, no, no. It's because people like Sean Hannity no longer respected Mr. Inger. Here is his exact quote. So I had family that sent a certified letter disowning me. They said that I've lost the trust of great men like Sean Hannity, which is funny, but they believe that they said I was a member of the Devil's Army.

He went on to talk about the death threats that he and his family and his, even his five month old child were receiving as a result of his not being blindly loyal to Donald Trump. But it's the Sean Hannity thing that really sticks out to me like, this is where we are as a country with the Republican cult. If Sean Hannity doesn't respect you, then by God, you better hope that your family loves you enough to overlook that. Because if not, the opinion of Sean Hannity is enough to make some people literally abandon their family. Whatever Sean Hannity thinks is stronger than that bond of blood, than that shared DNA than being on that same branch of the family tree, whatever metaphor you wanna use, none of that is more important than whatever that nut job on Fox News thinks of a certain person. Thi this is dangerous, like this is scary, folks, to think that Sean Hannity's opinion of a person could influence whether or not a family member e accepts you or rejects you. That's where we're at. That's how brainwashed Republicans are. Now, look, we have talked here at, at Ring of Fire, we've talked about, yeah, there's, there's obviously a lot of tribalism on the left, but there is nothing, nothing, nothing that compares to this brainwashed cult-like tribalism on the right. Right. The the left doesn't have that. You're not seeing anybody on the left say that, oh, well, you know, I'm a Democratic member of Congress and my family disowned me because Rachel Maddow didn't like something I did. Like that hasn't ever happened,

And that will never happen because yeah, we can be tribal and that's probably not good, but at least we're not in a cult like those on the right. That's dangerous. It's dangerous for the country, it's dangerous for families, it's dangerous for their safety. But apparently that is where we are as a country.
