Matt Gaetz Now Thinks Republicans Accused Of Sex Crimes Should Resign

Matt Gaetz appears to have mixed emotions about when people (Republicans) should resign from office. He stood up for George Santos during his recent expulsion and said that mere allegations should not be sufficient to result in him being removed from office. But late last week, he told reporters that embattled Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler should step down (because he's being investigated for sexual assault.) Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, has finally decided that he does have an opinion on the ongoing, well, I guess we'll call it scandal, involving the Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler. Now, in case you're not familiar, Mr. Ziegler is of course being investigated, uh, after he was accused of sexual battery against a woman that both he and his mom's for Liberty, co-founding wife, were involved with a threesome relationship with. And you have had Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida say that Mr. Ziegler should resign from his position as chair of the Republican Party. Rick Scott has joined in other high ranking state officials have said he needs to get the hell out of there. And of course, reports came out over the weekend saying that Mr. Ziegler was of course demanding $2 million to resign. That is, of course, according to reports. So the Republican Party of Florida responded by voting to reduce his salary to a single dollar and suspending him from being involved in any campaigns.

But before that happened, Matt Gaetz, as I said, weighed in with his opinion after previously saying that he was going to reserve judgment until all the facts had come out. Gates told NBC on Friday, quote, we're at the point where we would be better served with different leadership in the Republican party. And I think it's time to move on and select a different leader. I do think he should step aside. So Matt Gaetz is now of the opinion that if you're accused of any kind of sexual crime, you should resign from the current office that you hold. Now, anybody else see the irony in that Matt Gaetz thinks people should resign simply from being accused of sexual impropriety. So what does that mean for his future? Is he gonna fall on his sword and resign too? Because after all, he's been accused, not charged, but accused of engaging in improper sexual relationships just like Mr.

Ziegler right now. Now, I mean, actually Ziglar's obviously is way worse, but Ziglar has not been charged, certainly hasn't been convicted because he hasn't been charged. But now Gates suddenly has had a change of heart, which of course is also ironic. Not just given Gates', uh, uh, the accusations against him, but also with the whole George Santos thing, right? When George Santos was being expelled, Matt Gaetz came to his defense and said, Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa. We can't just expel people based on a all allegations, right? I mean, come on. There's no conviction. What are we doing? We're setting a bad precedent. So I don't know what's going through Matt Gaetz's mind. I don't know if he's immune to irony, but I think of all people in this country, Matt Gaetz might want to keep his lips zipped when it comes to calling for people to resign over alleged sexual misconduct.
