Mark Meadows, the indicted former Chief of Staff to Donald Trump, lost in court again this week as he attempted to get his Georgia trial moved to the federal courts. This failure leaves Meadows with only one viable path to staying out of prison: Strike a plea deal and flip on Trump. But that won't be easy for him to do, as prosecutors have already suggested that a plea deal is not an option for him. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Donald Trump's former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, is now running out of options to get out of trouble in the state of Georgia. This week, the appellate court ruled that he has not made a substantial case to move his case from state court to federal court. Now, Mark Meadows already got shot down by the lower courts. This, of course, again, was the appeal to the 11th circuit. And even though you've got a conservative justice sitting right there at the top, that conservative Justice said, yeah, that's not how this works. Specifically, judge William Pryor said this, Meadows as a former chief of staff is not a federal officer within the meaning of the removal statute. And he added, even if Meadows were an officer, uh, his participation in an alleged conspiracy to overturn a presidential election was not related to his official duties. Meadows fails to prove that the conduct underlying the criminal indictment relates to his official duties.

Meadows cannot have it both ways. He cannot shelter behind his testimony about the breadth of his official responsibilities while claiming his admissions that he understood electioneering activity to be out of bounds. In other words, you're going to state court, bud, so you better rethink your options here. And what are Mark Meadow's options? Well, legal experts have come out since this ruling was handed down just, you know, a couple days ago. And they have said Meadows really only has one option. That is do everything humanly possible to work out a plea deal with prosecutors in Georgia and try to get yourself to not end up in jail. But that's harder than you'd think for Mark Meadows. Obviously, Meadows has lots of stuff he could flip on Donald Trump about, I mean, after all, he was Trump's right hand man, more so than Rudy Giuliani in all of this.

So he would be able to tie everything up in a nice little bow, uh, basically implicating Donald Trump in 100% of the alleged criminal activity. But at the same time, prosecutors made it very clear a couple weeks ago that Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Mark Meadows would not be offered plea deals. Now, that actually flies in the face of everything that legal experts had already predicted. They had been saying for months that, uh, uh, Fannie Willis only wants to try one criminal case, and that's the one against Donald Trump. But her announcement that, yeah, these three folks are not getting plea deals says that, oops, the legal experts were wrong, and she has no problem going to trial against these three individuals. Having said that, it stands to reason that if she does not want a plea deal with Mark Meadows or Giuliani to flip on Trump, then she obviously has enough evidence, you know, in in her ammunition to

Take down all three. So Mark Meadow's only hope may be a plea deal to keep him out of jail, but Willis may not be willing to do that because she may not need it. And that's the key. If, if, if your cooperation is not necessary to secure any other convictions, then your cooperation becomes worthless. And that is probably what we're looking at with Mark Meadows. Even though he could tie things all the way up to Donald Trump, Fannie Willis seems to think she already has that.
