Secret Service Had Better Get Ready To Go To Jail With Trump

Thanks to a law passed by President Obama many years ago, Donald Trump is guaranteed Secret Service protection for the rest of his life - even if he goes to prison. This means that Secret Service agents had better get comfortable with the idea of spending their days inside a prison to protect the former President from whatever threats may exist in a hostile environment like a state or federal prison. Recently Fannie Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, who of course is going to be prosecuting Donald Trump this year. Um, she said that if Donald Trump is convicted, she's not gonna give him any special treatment. And the charges, by the way that Trump is facing actually do carry a minimum of five years in prison, minimum of five years in prison. So Fannie Willis made it clear that if he's convicted, I'm sending him to jail. So that raises a question, a question brought to us by one of our YouTube community members, Cheryl Beck 9 7 6 5, who asks, how would the Bureau of Prisons handle an incarcerated Trump and Secret Service? Because after all, many years ago, president Barack Obama signed into law a piece of legislation that guarantees secret service protection for former presidents for the rest of their lives. Now, you may be thinking like, Hey, Faron, they already had that.

No, they didn't. Former presidents only got Secret Service protection for 10 years after they left office. After that, you get nothing. Obama gets this piece of legislation that, of course had passed through. Congress signs it and says, you get it forever, no matter what. No matter what. There's no exception saying you lose secret Service protection if you go to prison. I mean, at the time, nobody, you know, like that wasn't a thing that anybody thought could happen. But now it is. So if Trump goes to prison, whether it's state prison in Georgia or federal prison with uh, uh, you know, the, the charges against him, uh, on the federal level, secret Service follows him. So instead of hanging out with him all day at Mar-a-Lago, right? Like, Hey, we're in this resort in Florida. Weather's nice. It's pretty cool, right? Nope, you're gonna be sitting in a dank prison somewhere in the Georgia swamps.

So, bit of a change of scenery, probably a lot less pleasant food certainly is not gonna be as good, but that is what would have to happen. Now because of that, I think Georgia is probably the, really the only trial where Donald Trump is actually looking at prison time. I think in New York, uh, based on the felony charges he's facing there, I I still think it would be some kind of house arrest. Um, the documents case, Eileen Cannon's not gonna let him get convicted. So let's not even think about that. And even with Judge Chuin, I, I, I still think she understands the complications and the gravity of the situation to where she would also probably do some kind of house arrest. You know, probably for several years Trump would have to wear an ankle monitor, but he would have all of Mar-a-Lago to just hang out in all day. So it's not like he's gonna be bored. Giorgio, on the other hand, Fannie Willis is just going scorched earth. She's like, screw this guy, I'm gonna put you in jail if I can. So yes, the Secret Service would have to follow him.

And because of that, I think that they would make sure that Donald Trump does not go to, you know, one of these real prisons in Georgia. I think it would be kind of more, almost like a halfway house type thing, or at the very most, a minimum security prison in Georgia where he's kind of free to roam around. There's no general population. He is not gonna be in there with the murderers and people like that, but it's still not gonna be super fun for the Secret Service. But hey, they can thank Obama for that. He did it. And so they may have to go to jail along with him.
