Republicans in the House finally succeeded this week in impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas (by a single vote), and they may soon come to regret this decision. Their impeachment does not even meet the criteria for impeachment, and the Senate is going to acquit Mayorkas with record speed. This is going to come back to bite the Republicans during the election, as most voters are already angry about the fact that Republicans can't govern. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

Well, Republicans did get a bit of a victory this week, I guess we can call it, when they managed to successfully by one vote impeach Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas. It's the first time a member of the cabinet has been impeached in over a century, but by God, Republicans tried a second time this week and they got it. And of course they did it on Tuesday. At the same time they were losing that special election in New York. Had they done it the next day, we would've had different results. Right? But it is what it is. Mayorca is officially impeached in the house, and Republicans are gonna live to regret that day tremendously. Because here's what happens now, as I'm sure everybody is aware, but I kind of want to talk about it 'cause it's very important. Now, these articles of impeachment heads over to the Senate for a trial and see, that's where Republicans get into a bit of a sticky wicket, right?

Because it turns out that they didn't even list any crimes that Mayor Orcas committed when they impeached him. Hmm. That's, that's gonna be interesting, right? I mean, you've got your impeachment managers, Marjorie Taylor Green is leading the in charge, so they'll, they'll be over there in the house. She, she has no legal training at all, by the way. She ran a gym. So, you know, we'll see how that goes. That'll be fun. Um, but the trial's gonna take place in the Senate and Mayorkas is gonna face the charges against him that aren't even defined. There's, I mean, look, look, look at the articles of Impeach. There is no defined crime that they're even alleging he committed. They're just saying, you didn't do your job the way we wanted you to do your job. So you're impeached. Impeachment in the United States Constitution is reserved for high crimes and misdemeanors.

They didn't even list a misdemeanor. They didn't even say he's not doing his job. Plus, uh, he, he's got unpaid parking tickets, you know, and, and he has either delinquent, so it's a misdemeanor. They, they don't even have that. They don't even have, he was a jaywalking, you know, he crossed against the light. So, you know, he, he should be impeached. Like they, they don't even have that. They have nothing. And this spectacle that they have now created is going to be headline news. Once that trial starts in the Senate, Mayorca is not gonna get convicted. He's not gonna be removed. And all of this is going to come back and bite the Republicans on the like a rabid coyote. And it's going to be the most glorious, spectacular, and possibly most hilarious thing that we have ever seen in modern American politics. I love this. I am glad that they did this in an election year when they're already being

Held accountable in the special elections. One, one that took place this week, others that have taken place in previous weeks where Republicans can't even win in Republican districts because the voters are saying the same thing. This Congress hadn't done a thing for me. This Congress sucks. Republicans can't govern was the message that voters told pollsters after Tuesday's special election, that's literally what they said. They can't govern. So how do Republicans respond by not governing, they are wily Coyote at this point, and their little Acme rocket that they have used to impeach Mayor Orcas is about to blow up in their faces. And it's gonna be quite a sight to see.
