3:34Now PlayingThe 2024 race is officially set at this point, as Nikki Haley has suspended her presidential campaign. This means that Donald Trump is the only one left on the Republican side, and that's really not good for him. So far, Trump has managed to enjoy split coverage in the media (though not an even split), as outlets still had to report on Haley. Not anymore. Trump is going to get all of the attention that he wants, and that's never worked out well for him in the past, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Well, after winning one single state Vermont on Super Tuesday, Nikki Haley announced she's out of the race. So folks, the 2024 stage is set and it is going to be Trump versus Biden round two. And yes, of course, uh, Democrat Dean Phillips did drop outta the race on Wednesday. And of course, he fully endorsed. President Biden said he is gonna go out and work for him. You know, we all have to come together. He says, meanwhile, Nikki Haley, when she dropped out, uh, didn't say what she was gonna do, and then Trump actually attacked her. So probably not gonna get that endorsement just yet. He'll get it though, and he got Mitch McConnell on Wednesday, so he'll get Nikki Haley probably sooner rather than later. But either way, Trump now has everything that he ever wanted, and it's gonna come back and bite him in the harder than anything ever has because the one thing Donald Trump wants more than anything is everyone's undivided attention.
And now that there are no other Republicans running in this race, at least none that matter, Trump gets all the attention heading into Tuesday. Every news site that I go to, including news aggregate sites that pull from right, left center, everything, there were still headlines about Nikki Haley. There were headlines about Nikki Haley every day. Not nearly as many as Trump, but some reporters did still have to cover things that Nikki Haley was doing. And now Nikki Haley's gone. So all of that space that had previously been devoted to Nikki Haley now goes to Trump. He gets 100% of the attention now. And what has happened in the last few months since other Republicans had dropped out, Trump got more and more attention. And as he gets more and more attention, what do people start talking about? Oh, wow, the man can't form complete sentences.
Wow, he sure is slurring a lot. Wow. His legal problems are getting even worse. So once these reporters, these writers, people like me, once, we don't have to talk about anybody else other than Trump. We're able to focus more time on how horrible he is as a candidate, as a businessman, and in general as a human being. And that has never worked out well for Donald Trump in the past. The more people get to know him, the less they like him, the more they hear from him, according to recent surveys, the less they like him, the more likely they are to oppose him. So now that Donald Trump doesn't have anybody else in this Republican race taking part of the spotlight off of him, even if it was only 5% of the spotlight before that, is now more time devoted to covering this lunatic. And I can tell you, because I've been in this game for a long
Time, when there is nobody to take the spotlight off of you even for a second, that means that every single thing that you do, every mistake you make, every word that you slur, all of it suddenly becomes headline news. And that is the worst thing in the world for Donald Trump right now.
