Nikki Haley Bends The Knee And Says She'll Vote For Man She Said Was "Not Fit" To Hold Office

Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley decided to throw away what little conscience she had left this week by announcing that she will be voting for Donald Trump in November. This move isn't all that surprising, even though Haley had previously referred to Trump as "unhinged", "disgusting," and "not fit" to hold office. Those comments have come back to bite Haley following her endorsement, and they may be enough to keep some of her supporters from following suit. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

This week Nikki Haley reemerged at a speak at the Hudson speech, I should say at the Hudson Institute, where she made it very clear that the man she once referred to as unhinged, the man she called disgusting, the man she said, is mentally unfit to serve as President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, Nikki Haley told the crowd that she is absolutely gonna vote for him in November. She finally bent the knee folks, and to be honest, this is probably the least surprising news of this entire week. We all knew it was coming, right? I mean, I don't think there's anybody out there that genuinely thought Nikki Haley was not going to eventually endorse Donald Trump. May not have thought it was gonna happen this soon, but it happened nevertheless, and I don't think anybody who follows politics was surprised by this at all.

But Nikki Haley's got a big problem now. As I said, she spent months in that Republican presidential primary attacking this man, saying some fairly vicious things, including when Donald Trump attacked her own husband for serving in the US military overseas. About that, she actually said, we can't have someone that sits and mocks men and women trying to protect America. It's a pattern of chaos. It's a pattern of irresponsibility, she said, and she's gonna vote for that pattern of irresponsibility. Now, as I said, she's also called him disgusting, unhinged, mentally unfit to hold office. But during her speech this week, she actually said, Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I've made that clear many, many times. I will be voting for Trump. Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me.

So what she's actually doing here is not only saying that she is gonna vote for Donald Trump, but she's trying to say, hey Donnie, I got some leverage here. I got millions of people that support me. Tens of thousands are still showing up in primaries where I'm not even running and voting for me each week. So maybe you ought to reach out to me, extend that olive branch a little bit, and maybe I can help you and you can help me. I do think now at this point that Nikki Haley is of course, angling to be Donald Trump's running mate. And politically speaking, that would be the smartest thing that Donald Trump could do. There are a lot of Nikki Haley supporters out there who have said that they will not under any circumstances vote for Donald Trump.

If Haley gets on that ticket with him becoming the running mate, those people will change their minds. Her endorsement of him will be enough to change the minds of some of those people, but not all of them, and certainly not enough of them. But you put her on that ticket, suddenly all those other Haley supporters that said, I'll never do it, will say, well, you know what? She's the running mate. He's getting up there in years. He's definitely not a healthy guy. I'll go ahead and do it because there's a good chance she becomes president. So that's what we're looking at here. That's why Haley did it. That's why she sent that message of, hey, you may want to reach out to my folks because they still love me. It's not just about supporting him, it's about her wanting to be on that ticket with him.
