Majority Of Americans Want Fossil Fuel Companies Punished For Polluting The World

According to a new poll, a majority of Americans want fossil fuel companies punished for their role in warming the climate, either through legislation or litigation. This is actually very good news, as it shows the public is not only taking the issue of climate change seriously, but that they also understand who is responsible for the bulk of the problem. There are currently 40 existing lawsuits filed by various cities and states across this country against the fossil fuel industry, alleging that they not only knew that climate change was being caused by their products, but also more importantly that they engaged in a decades long coverup, basically a grand conspiracy to shield the public from what the fossil fuel industry already knew was happening. They didn't want us to know that they were killing the planet. So they spent billions of dollars over decades to make it seem like they were the good guys. 40 lawsuits currently happening, and according to a new poll, this is, this is the good news. This is a good part of it. A majority of Americans support these lawsuits and support efforts to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for what they have done to the planet. A question asked, should uh, fossil fuel companies be held legally accountable for their contributions to climate change?

62% of voters said yes when broken down along party lines. Majority of Democrats said yes. Majority of independents said yes, but 40% of Republicans said, yes. You know what? I'm gonna take that as a win. Even if you only have 40% of Republicans, not even a majority, but you got 40% of Republicans saying yes, hold them criminally responsible. I like it. Okay, that's good. That's not bad. It shows you, by the way, that their propaganda is no longer as effective. And I'll get more to that in a second. But another question said, knowing what you do now, do you support or oppose criminal charges being filed against oil and gas companies to hold them accountable for deaths caused by their contributions to climate change? 49% said yes. 38% said no. So you have almost half the country that says, you know what? It's not enough to just sue these people.

Let's file criminal charges against them for the people that have died from climate related events. That is a staggering number. But again, what this shows us is that those decades of propaganda from the fossil fuel industry are wearing off. And part of the reason it's wearing off, not from a lack of trying from the, uh, fossil fuel industry, it's wearing off because people no longer have to believe propaganda because they see what's actually happening. They feel it down here in the south. We just had that massive unseasonal heat wave come through. I mean, totally just absolutely record-breaking temperatures for this time of year, and it's going to continue to get worse. Other areas of the country where they experience the fires, the flooding, the snowstorms, which yes, those are a part of extreme climate change. The hurricanes, I could go on and on, folks, the droughts.

We don't need to decide whether or not climate change is happening anymore. Do we side with the scientists? Do we side with the fossil fuel companies? We don't have to make those decisions anymore. We shouldn't have ever had to make them because we can open up our front doors and climate change will literally smack you in the face. That's what's happened to us down here for the past week. You open your front door, climate change is standing there saying, Hey, here I am. What are you gonna do? So these numbers are encouraging. These lawsuits are encouraging, and hopefully as time moves on, but not too much time, we can finally take the action necessary to get a hold of this issue before it's too late.
