4:19Now PlayingThe Harris Campaign announced on Saturday that they had accepted CNN’s offer to host a second presidential debate between Harris and Donald Trump, but Trump says that it is “too late” to do a second debate at this point. Trump got blasted on social media for the lame excuse, because not only do debates usually START at the end of September, but this is also the latest excuse he’s offered that has nothing to do with previous excuses, proving that he’s a liar. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

On Saturday morning, vice President Kamala Harris announced that her campaign has accepted CNN's offer to host another presidential debate in late October. But shortly after Harris made the announcement that hell yeah, we'll do it. Just tell us where and when and we'll be there. Donald Trump told a rally crowd in North Carolina that, Nope, I am definitely not gonna do it, because as he says, it's too late. Here's what Donald Trump said to the North Carolina crowd. She's done one debate, I've done two, it's too late to do another. I'd love to in many ways, but it's too late. The voting is cast, the voters are out there. I've done two, you know, traditionally going back decades. We have three presidential debates, not two. Donald, I know you don't have much energy these days. I know you're feeling worn down and you know, worn out and you got your butt kicked last time she debated you.
But, um, usually we do in fact have three. I know you didn't in 2020, 'cause you backed out of the second one, and then you got mad that Biden instead did a town hall on national tv. So you did show up to the third one, but if Biden hadn't done that, you only would've done the one debate and just left. So you're trying to do the same thing here. But as Len sweet journalist pointed out in an interview with CNN early Sunday morning, Donald Trump's latest excuse that, oh gosh, darn it, it's just too late in the game to do it is total BS Here is what journalist Len Sweet said. The first debate in 2020 was September 29th. The second was in October. The whole point of it, uh, the debate is to make it possible for you to be elected President of the United States.
It's not for entertainment value or any other calculation. It doesn't matter who gets the last word in the calculation of the candidates, Trump sees no plus for him going again. Here's the quick irony here. The first debate with President Joe Biden went so well for Trump, and Biden did so poorly that it resulted in him dropping out of the reelection bid. So now Trump clearly sees no win here. And let's not forget that the day after, the morning after that debate with Biden Trump has already called, let's do it again right now. Same thing Harris did after their first debate, but Sweet continues. He also said two things both can't be true. He would've gone, he makes it pretty clear on a Fox news debate, but he didn't want to go on a debate on CNN. So that speaks well for itself. So yeah, Trump had already said, like, I'll do a debate on Fox. You get me, Laura Ingram, Sean Hannity, and, uh, I forget who the third one is, but you get those people to do a debate. I'll do it all day long. So he'll go on a friendly network, but he won't go on a network that might, I don't know, fact check him. So he backed out, but not because he is a coward. No, no, no. It's just, it's too late. Even though
We always have debates in October. So it's not too late. Historically, that's always what's happened. He's just a coward. But what's also funny and sweet did not point this out, is the fact that Donald Trump is once again lying about his rationale here. Because it's not that he's lying, that it's too late. We know that, or we know that he's lying about that it's not too late, but completely missed the fact that he said he wasn't gonna do another debate because he, he beat her so badly in the first one that there's no need for a second one. That was his original excuse. And then of course, he was like, they were so unfair to me. Of course, I'm not gonna do another one.
