4:17Now PlayingAccording to a new biography of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader absolutely despised Donald Trump and was counting the days until he left office following the 2020 election. McConnell also reportedly referred to Trump as a “despicable human being” who was “stupid” and “ill-tempered,” but McConnell is the one who went along with all of his plans and even saved him TWICE from impeachment. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

Within the next week and a half, a new book is gonna come out from author Michael Tackett, who of course is a reporter for the Associated Press, and the book is called The Price of Power. Now, what makes this book stand out is that this book is actually a biography of Republican senate majority or minority leader, excuse me, Mitch McConnell. And it spans 30 years. 30 years of that man's horrific tenure as a Republican leader in the Senate, responsible for some of the worst economic policies that we have seen, and of course, some of the worst justices that our court system has ever seen. But the reason I'm talking about this is because in the book, Tackett points out that Mitch McConnell was one of the people most excited when Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. In fact, the book claims that McConnell said, quote, it's not just the Democrats who are counting the days until Trump leaves office.
Um, only underscores the good judgment of the American people, the 2020 election. They've had just enough of the misrepresentations, the outright lies on almost on a daily basis, and they fired him. McConnell reportedly said, McConnell also had some other very harsh words to describe Donald Trump. Stupid, as well as being ill tempered a despicable human being, a narcissist, wow, despicable human being, stupid, as well as ill tempered. Now, I'm not gonna deny any of those statements. I agree with all of them. The problem is who they're coming from. I am not going to look at this as, oh, maybe Mitch McConnell's redeemable, maybe all of the horrible things he's done throughout his entire career should be forgiven because he hates the same guy I hate. No, see, Mitch McConnell has not only already endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2024, but he is also the guy who saved Donald Trump twice from impeachment twice. So I don't care. I don't care that Mitch McConnell didn't actually like him, and he thought he was stupid and a despicable person, and he was counting the days until he left office. Oh, boy, that doesn't put McConnell on our team. In fact, it actually makes McConnell look even worse than he already looks because you hate this guy. And yet you've endorsed him, and you saved him from both of his impeachments by not allowing a real trial to take place by not rallying your Republican friends,
Even after he left office, to just kick him out. McConnell, you were the most powerful Republican in Washington DC and have been for years. If anybody had the power to get rid of Donald Trump from the Republican party after he left office, it was you. You were given opportunity after opportunity, literally to steer the Republican Party in a new direction, to get rid of this despicable narcissist as you called him once and for all, and you chose not to do it. So I don't care that you've trashed Donald Trump behind closed doors. All that matters is what you've done publicly and what you've done publicly is be a good little lapdog for Donald Trump, just like all the other Republicans in DC.
