During his rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Donald Trump teased that he and Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson had a “Secret” that they can’t share, but they would reveal it after the election. This led many to believe that Trump was suggesting that Johnson was going to vote to NOT certify the election results if Trump loses. Johnson is now in damage control mode, and he insists that this “secret” is just a “get out the vote effort.” That seems highly unbelievable, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.

During his rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Donald Trump gave a bit of a wink and a nod to Republican House speaker Mike Johnson, who had taken the stage earlier in the, uh, afternoon. But Donald Trump said, quote, we can take the Senate pretty easily, and I think with our little secret, we're going to take the house. Right? Our little secret is having a big impact. And he and I talking about Johnson have a secret. We'll tell you what it is when the race is over. So we have a little secret. Donald Trump says, just he and Republican House speaker Mike Johnson sitting there on the telephone late at night, sharing secrets with one another about how they're gonna win the election. And of course, the immediate speculation was that their little secret was probably Mike Johnson agreeing that Republicans will not certify the results of the 2024 election if Donald Trump doesn't win.

Right? That is what everybody immediately thought. And because of that, Mike Johnson went into a bit of a panic. So he has now done multiple interviews and given multiple statements to multiple media outlets to let them know that no, no, no, no, no. We're totally, there's like no secret plan. We we're just, it's just get out the vote effort. That's like, that's the big secret, is we're gonna have people vote as if, as if we didn't already know there were an election. Here's what he said at a rally Monday evening. It's nothing scandalous, but we're having a ball with this. The media, their heads are exploding. What is the secret? It's this thing, uh, we have about, it's, it's a get out the vote. It's one of our tactics on get out the vote. He then, uh, uh, dramatically rubbed his hands together according to the report.

Like evilly, like Mr. Burns, I guess. But that doesn't seem right, right? If you have get out the vote plans, why is that a secret? Why would Donald Trump say that that's a secret? And if that is the secret that Trump says can only be revealed after the election, why are you revealing it now? You're revealing it now because you're scared. You are trying to do damage control because Donald Trump essentially made you look like a comic book villain at this point. Johnson then sent a statement to the Hill and said, I'm a lifelong constitutional law attorney. We're going to respect the law. We're going to follow the Constitution to a t I've proven that over and over and over. So all this conjecture is actually hilarious to us that people are apoplectic about this. It's a, it's one of our get out the vote strategies. That's what we're talking about. And it's almost a tongue in cheek thing. Yeah. Everybody else is apoplectic about it to the point where you feel the need to constantly address it and downplay it, right? We're the ones

Freaking out, not the guy that's calling up every media outlet like, Hey, hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is what he meant. You guys are fools and I'm laughing at you. Please, please, please, please don't say that I'm trying to steal the election. Yeah. That, uh, that totally sounds believable, right? Mike Johnson, it's not a secret that get out the vote efforts on all sides of the political aisle exist. That's not a secret. It's not a secret that any party running for any office wants people to go and vote. So why are you acting like that's the big secret, Mike? That's simply not believable. Okay? So if you're gonna lie about what the secret is, Mike, little word of advice, at least make it a lie that's somewhat believable, because you sure didn't do that with your damage control from Trump's comments.
