Florida Breaks Their Own Record With Shocking Number Of Book Bans This Year

The state of Florida was already leading the country in banning books in public schools when they banned a staggering 400 titles through the 2022-2023 school year. But the numbers are now in for the 2023-2024 school year, and the state managed to break their own record by banning 700 titles. This all happened as the DeSantis administration continued to swear that they don’t “ban” books. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what happened.

Through the 2020 22 and 2020 23 school year, the State of Florida led the country with more than 400 books banned from public schools across the state. 400 books a record. No other state banned more books than Florida for the 20 22 20 23 school year. Well, so far, for the 20 23, 20 24 school year, that goes from August of 2023, all the way to November of 2024, Florida has somehow managed to break their own record. And according to the Florida Department of Education, more than 700 books have been banned from public schools, right? We don't want kids learning about things. We gotta ban those books. But the Department of Education also tells us, don't you dare call it a book ban, even though these books have been removed from public school libraries and are not ever allowed to return. It's not a ban that's just a liberal talking point.

So, I, I don't know what the state wants to officially call it when you remove something and then say that that thing can never return. I mean, literally by definition, that is a ban. But here is what the Florida Department of Education said in a statement about all the books they've totally not banned, but that are totally banned. They said there are no books banned in Florida and sexually explicit materials do not belong in schools. Once again, far left activist groups are pushing the book Ban hoax on Floridians. The better question is, why do these groups continue to fight to expose children to sexually explicit materials?

Listen to me very closely. Idiots who run the State of Florida, you guys are banning books that were written most of the ones in this region written in the seventies, right? So they've literally been available in public school libraries in the state of Florida since before I was born. And for 40, 50, some of these books, 60, 70 years, they weren't corrupting kids, right? No problem with 'em at all. Some of 'em were assigned reading by our English teachers. Never once did parents complain. I mean, maybe every now and then. Sure. But we all turned out normal, right? And now, suddenly, suddenly these books are a problem. Oh yeah, it's been on the shelf for 50 years. But hey, this one Judy Blooms Forever, which of course has been banned now, um, talks, it's a coming of age story of a young woman, uh, who basically grows

Into, you know, her post pubescent self. It, it's not explicitly sexual, it's just basically about her first love and choosing between one man and the other that that's it. Like that, that's what we're talking about here. She's torn between two dudes and she's a teenager. Oh, no. What am I gonna do? It's a Judy Bloom book for God's sakes. Th This is insane. Florida is insane, and I'm terrified of what the entire country will become with Donald Trump being president again. We will see more book bans and we will see these dumb asses like we have in the Florida Department of Education telling us like, no books are banned. That's a liberal hoax. Okay, well, can I bring this book in? No, that one's not allowed ever again. So it's banned, right? Can we stop quibbling about the terminology? Can y'all just admit what you're doing? 'cause it's not gonna change what you're doing. It's not gonna change the fact that you've got Republicans in the state, overwhelming majority who support it. We can't stop it. We just have to live under your tyranny as we watch everybody else around us continue to get dumber, because you don't want 'em reading those nasty books.
