Matt Gaetz is in for a shock as the House Ethics Committee held a secret vote on Wednesday where they approved the release of the long-awaited report on his behavior. This is a huge blow to the former Congressman who is preparing for a role as a primetime host on One America News and possibly a cushy position at a law firm. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

On Wednesday, the House Ethics Committee held a secret vote where they voted to finally release the long awaited ethics report on Republican former representative Matt Gates. However, the report was not immediately released because they're not gonna release it till Congress finishes their work for the year, which is either gonna be today or tomorrow. So once Congress adjourns, they go home for the holidays. When they come back, the new Congress is sworn in. Uh, sometime between there we will get this Gates report. Maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe Christmas day. I don't know, but it is coming as of now, right? Maybe something changes, maybe it doesn't come. Maybe it's already come and this is old news, we don't know. But this is going to be a hell of a lot of fun. Now, here's the thing. We already know that no matter what is in this report, it could have like the most damning evidence of criminal behavior we've ever seen.

Matt Gaetz is not in any way going to be punished for this. If there is criminal activity in there that, you know, the DOJ says, oh God, yeah, I guess we need to prosecute, that won't even happen because the DOJ has got a month left on the job. Trump's gonna replace these people. He's gonna pardon Matt Gates, or they're just gonna drop an investigation altogether. So before anybody gets their hopes up that maybe something's gonna happen to Matt Gaetz criminally. Let me go ahead and dash those expectations right now, because it is 100% not going to happen. However, this report does, as Matt Gaetz himself admitted, have the ability to embarrass him. Yes. On Wednesday, Matt Gaetz trying to get ahead of the news, came out and said that, eh, it's embarrassing, but what's in there is definitely not criminal. And again, doesn't matter if it's criminal or not, they're not gonna do anything to him.

They had the chance to do it. They chose not to, but embarrassing. Yes. Here's why that matters. Matt Gaetz is considering, according to reports running for Governor of Florida, when DeSantis term is over in 2026, this report could absolutely derail any future political ambitions that Matt Gaetz may have. So that's a positive. If it's embarrassing enough, if it's damning enough, dude's political career is over. Secondly, Matt Gaetz is gearing up to host a primetime show on One America News Network. Are they gonna want to keep this guy around after whatever's in this report comes out? Who knows? He may lose the job before he actually starts. Another thing that I had mentioned last week was that Matt Gaetz was apparently in talks with lawyer John Morgan to potentially join the massive law firm of Morgan and Morgan.

Maybe what's in this report puts that plan on Ice and Gates doesn't get a job as a lawyer. I mean, I typically don't wish for anybody to, you know, lose their job and just be unemployed forever. But I will make an exception for Matt Gates because this has the potential to destroy any future employment opportunity that he may have. Or maybe I'm putting the cart before the horse and nobody cares. Right? We've all seen that these right wing organizations have no scruples. So maybe one America says, yeah, we saw the report. Who cares? Come to your primetime show. So we don't know what's gonna happen, but I can promise you get the popcorn out 'cause it's gonna be fun.
