4:37Now PlayingFollowing the late-evening confirmation of Pete Hegseth this past Friday, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to rehash one of his “greatest hits” by declaring certain media outlets to be “the enemy of the people.” But this time he took things a step further, and specifically mentioned MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow by name. Every time Trump does this, he puts a target on someone’s back, and we’ve seen his crazed supporters attempt violence from these “enemy of the people” comments in the past. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

Late on Friday evening when Donald Trump should have been celebrating the fact that his disgusting, uh, defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth finally got confirmed. JD Vance had to be the tiebreaker, but he got confirmed. You would think Trump would've been in a good mood, he'd have been happy, right? You got what you wanted. But instead, Donald Trump, in a very late night post on Truth Social this past Friday, decided to simply rehash one of his greatest hits and once again referred to certain media outlets and even one personality by name as quote enemy of the people. And that particular reporter that Donald Trump singled out by name was MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. Now, it's not clear what prompted Donald Trump to go after Mad Ow and M-S-N-B-C and CNN. We don't know what his motivation was. We don't know why he was suddenly mad at Rachel, but he was, and he got on truth social and said this, wow, Rachel Maddow has horrible ratings.
She'll be off the air very soon. M-S-N-B-C is close to death. CNN has reached the bottom. This is a good thing. They are the enemy of the people during Donald Trump's first term, and pretty much ever since then, he has repeatedly referred to certain media outlets and sometimes the media as a whole, as the enemy of the people. As such, there have been multiple instances over the last nine years where crazed Trump supporters have attempted to murder members of the media. There was one man who was actually stopped with explosives trying to get into the CNN building a couple years ago. So we know that these words, that these phrases that Donald Trump uses put gigantic targets on these media outlets, and now he's singling certain people out. Rachel Maddow, obviously. Now, I don't care what your opinion of Rachel Maddow is. I don't care if you love Rachel, I don't care if you hate her, if you love M-S-N-B-C, if you hate 'em, same thing with CNN. None of that matters. Your personal opinions about these people or these outlets are, are garbage in relation to this story, because what Donald Trump did was put a giant target on Rachel Maddow, and there is no circumstance on this planet where that is okay. He knows what he's doing. This is why he does it. Rachel Maddow is an exceptionally talented and brilliant woman, and that drives Donald Trump crazy. I mean, above everything else on this planet,
I, I don't think Donald Trump hates anything more than he hates educated, smart women. Now, we have seen that repeatedly from him over the years, and here you have this person on M-S-N-B-C, Rachel ow. Again, I don't care how you feel about her. I like her. I don't like what her show has been the last few years, I'll be honest with you. But me knowing Rachel actually goes back to the Air America days. I mean, I was never like friends, friends with her. I met her multiple times and every time I would see her, even if it had been years, she remembered me. She knew me. She was one of the nicest people that I ever met throughout the entire era America era. She was great, and she's a genuinely good human being that does not deserve this target that Donald Trump has now put on her. That is terrifying. I'm scared for her. I'm scared for the rest of M-S-N-B-C and CNN, and I don't even watch 'em. But we have seen what Trump's rhetoric does. His base knows that these are not just posts on truth social, these are marching orders. He's telling me who I need to go after. That is what this is, and this is only the beginning.
