During all of this, the President of the United States was playing in a golf tournament hosted by his own resort, and he then got on Truth Social and boasted about winning his own tournament. This past weekend in parts of the, uh, middle of the country as well as across the American south, devastating storms ripped through entire communities, multiple tornadoes respond. Uh, right now, the damage has not even been fully assessed yet, but what we do know is that at least 40 people lost their lives, and that number is likely to go up as the damage and the debris starts to be cleared. These storms happened while Donald Trump was playing golf. I mean, that's not shocking, right? The man is always playing golf, so pretty much there's a good bet anytime something bad happens, he's probably playing golf, but the president of the United States could not be bothered with massive storms killing dozens of Americans, because he was just too, gosh darn busy playing in a golf tournament at his own resort. It's a golf tournament that he puts on, but hey, at least he won, right?

So as Americans were hunkered down in either their storm cellars or crowded in their bathtubs trying to avoid the damage while people were dying, Donald Trump sent out this post on Truth Social. I just won the Golf Club Championship, probably my last at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida. Such a great honor. The awards dinner is tonight at the club. I wanna thank the wonderful golf staff and all of the many fantastic golfers that participated in this event. Such fun, hoo boy. What a good day. I mean, God, I'm out here playing golf. I'm having fun. Not have to worry about being president. Man, I won the tournament. We got a kick party happening later.

People were in the middle of dying while he was doing this. Deaths that maybe might not have been so numerous had we not seen the massive cuts to the weather forecasters and the advanced warning folks at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, right? Beginning of last week is when we had the, uh, NOAA layoffs, the people literally in charge of monitoring and warning people about severe weather events. So maybe that would've saved some folks, maybe not. I'm sure we will find out as time goes on, whether or not any of the people laid off were in charge of looking at that specific storm. I'm willing to bet some of them were, and I'm willing to bet that some lives may have been able to be saved, but Trump didn't care. He was too busy winning a golf tournament. We are actively monitoring the severe tornadoes and storms that have impacted many states across the south and Midwest. 36 innocent lives have been lost in many more devastated. The National Guard has been deployed to Arkansas, and my administration is ready to assist state and local officials as that they help their communities to try and recover from the damage.
