4:13Now PlayingThe White House Correspondents group has cancelled their planned comedian, Amber Ruffin, after she made comments critical of Donald Trump during a recent appearance. The White House had pressured the group to cancel the comedian, and they almost immediately complied. This is not a coincidence, and the more you know about the story the worse it becomes. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

By now, I'm sure everybody has heard the story that the White House Correspondence Association for their upcoming White House correspondence dinner has canceled Emmy and to Tony nominated comedian Amber Ruffin. Because Amber Ruffin has of course been critical of Donald Trump in some of her comedy routines on late night with Seth Meyers. Now, here is what some people may not have put together with this particular story. The leader of the White House Press Corps, white House Correspondence Association, excuse me, is Eugene Daniels. Now, Mr. Daniels is about to have a show starting on M-S-N-B-C, and he doesn't wanna ruffle any feathers with the administration, right? I mean, you had Taylor Boic who, uh, of course was the Deputy Chief of staff for Donald Trump, who came out and attacked the White House Correspondence Association for picking Amber Ruffin talking about how ridiculous it is. So in response to that, Mr. Daniels has the White House Correspondence Association get together, and they say that they unanimously decided to get rid of Amber Ruffin, because is the focus is not on the politics of division, but rather on honoring the work of the association's journalists.
You're not journalists, you're pundits mostly, by the way, but more importantly, you're cowards. That's what you are. Taylor Boic comes out, says, this is ridiculous. And you're like, oh, oh, dear. Oh, let's have a vote. Everybody wanna get rid of rough And okay, yeah, we're, we're gonna comply. We're gonna comply. Do you know how Taylor Boic responded by saying this, no accountability at White House Correspondence Association. Just a cop out statement. Pathetic. It's so sad that such a storied and consequential group has been so quickly driven into irrelevancy. She made a demand. You complied with the demand, and then she called you pathetic for complying with it. And she's right. You are pathetic for complying with this. I know the White House Correspondence Association dinner is like the big thing. Isn't that what they call like nerd prom or something? I think, but, uh, let me go ahead and put it this way. Any member of the media that attends this White House Correspondence Association dinner is a coward. Any member of the media that attends this meeting, that bowed down to Donald Trump and then got their asses dragged through the mud for it by the same person who demanded it, if you show up to this garbage event, you yourself are garbage. Have some dignity, have some respect for your profession, and sit this one out. Send a message to Eugene Daniels. Eugene Daniels who made this decision just to cover his
just because he wants his little cushy job on M-S-N-B-C. I hope you fail. I hope your show gets canceled. I hope it gets canceled immediately. You are a pathetic coward. You bowed down to Trump and while you were bowing down, he kicked you in the teeth. How's that feel? You proud of yourself? You sleep better at night knowing that you did that? You frigging coward. I hope you don't. I hope it keeps you up at night. I hope it keeps you up every night forever. You made the wrong decision. You made a weak person's decision by letting an even weaker person boss you around. You are a disgrace to journalism. You are a disgrace to the media, and don't you dare call yourselves journalists because you're not. You're access driven political hacks who have no interest in challenging the powers that be. That is what the media's supposed to be. That's what at one point in this country it was. But with people like Eugene Daniels running the White House Correspondence Association, we will never get that old school actual real journalism back in this country.
