During an early Tuesday morning press briefing, Karoline Leavitt flipped out when asked about Amazon’s new policy where they will show how much more an item on their website costs because of Donald Trump’s tariffs. Leavitt referred to this as a “hostile and political act,” but really she and the administration are just mad that they are getting exposed for raising costs to consumers. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

On Tuesday morning, Caroline Levitt went absolutely ballistic on Amazon after rumors started circulating that Amazon was going to include in their price breakdown on their products, how much extra you were paying because of Trump's tariffs. So you would see the price, then you'd see the tax, then you would see what was being added due to the tariffs onto the main price. Now, Caroline Levitt was not happy about this. So she got up there during her very early morning press briefing and had this to say, take a look.

So it was reported this morning that Amazon will soon display a little number next to the price of each product that shows how much the Trump tariffs are adding to the cost of each product. So isn't that a perfect crystal clear demonstration that it's the American consumer and not China, who is gonna have to pay for these policies?

I will, uh, take this since I just got off the phone with the president about Amazon's announcement. Uh, this is a hostile and political act by Amazon. Uh, why didn't Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years? And I would also add that, uh, it's not a surprise because as Reuters recently wrote, um, Amazon, Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm. Um, so this is another reason why Americans should buy American. It's another reason why we are onshoring critical supply chains here at home to, uh, shore up our own critical supply chain, uh, and boost our own manufacturing case.

Now, sometimes I struggle with trying to determine whether or not Caroline Levitt is legitimately that dumb, or if she just knows she has to lie about everything because that's just her job In this particular instance, I don't know which one it is, but I'm gonna lean towards she is just not a smart person. Um, but Biden didn't raise inflation as she said. Like, that's not something Biden, like Biden didn't come into office and say, you know what? Inflation's not high enough. Uh, raise the cost of living for everybody, you know, make that go up. That's not a thing. Even if he had said that, he, he still can't even do that. Tho those are market reactions to, to things happening in the world. Biden didn't tell them to raise it. So that's just a dumb statement from a dumb person who also happens to lie all the time.

So it's difficult to find out if she's just that dumb or if she's a liar. It's some sick perverted combination of both, though. Uh, but that, that's why that didn't happen, Caroline. And was it a hostile political attack? Well, sure, why not? They have freedom of sp they can do that. They can let people know why the prices they're paying are higher this week than they were last week. But Amazon was quick to come out and Amazon through a spokesperson said, Nope, this is not a thing we ever thought of. We don't know where this came from, but it's totally not happening. So Amazon absolutely denies it says, we're not gonna do this, but why not do it? Make it happen. But Amazon's not gonna do that because Amazon makes most of their money through government contracts, not through people buying stuff off amazon.com, and they don't wanna lose those government contracts.

So of course, they're not gonna do anything to off Donald Trump, even though they could and should. So this isn't even a thing that's gonna happen. Amazon immediately backed down from Caroline Levitt's pressure, I guess. So she did her job the way she was supposed to. I'm sure Donald Trump is very happy about that. Meanwhile, you go on Amazon right now, and I know because I literally just do, uh, did it, uh, try to buy things from your buy again and look at how much those prices have gone up.
