The Trump administration released their budget “blueprint” last week, and it includes a record-breaking $1 trillion for the Pentagon while slashing programs that help average families and low income Americans. Programs like heating and cooling assistance, disease prevention and research, charging stations for electric vehicles, and so many more would be gone for good, while the Pentagon will have more money than ever before. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

Last Friday, Donald Trump unveiled his blueprint for the budget that he would like to see become a reality here in the United States. And that budget, as Trump had previously promised, includes $1 trillion for the Pentagon, while also cutting vital programs that are helping keep working class people afloat and safe, really, but $1 trillion for the Pentagon. Now, I remember sitting right here and, and probably about two years ago, talking about the fact that the Pentagon budget obviously balloons every year. And I said, we're probably not that far off from it hitting a trillion dollars per year. And I thought maybe five years would be the number. But it turns out it was about a year or two because Trump wants a trillion dollars for the military industrial complex here in the United States. And in order to do that, like I said, he is going to cut vital programs that are not just keeping middle class and working class people afloat in some instances, they're literally keeping people alive.

So the cuts he wants to make in order to feed the military industrial complex, complex will result in people dying because one of the big programs he wants to get rid of is heating and cooling assistance for low income elderly Americans. So you will have people in the north freezing to death in the winters because they can't afford to heat their homes because the government assistance is gone. And people in the south and southwest who will be dying of heat stroke in their homes because they can't afford to run air conditioners because the public assistance was cut from them, people will die. But hey, none of that matters, right? Because we're gonna have a trillion dollars for the Pentagon, including an additional on top of the trillion, 175 million or billion, excuse me, uh, to quote, fully secure the border. So yes, a lot of people are gonna die from very preventable things, but we're gonna finish the border wall that Mexico is never gonna pay for.

And Boeing and Lockheed Martin and all those other military contractors, you're gonna have a trillion dollars to play with. Here are the programs that, according to Donald Trump's budget blueprint, would be cut to feed the war machine here in the United States. Clean energy programs and electric vehicle charging stations. So, you know, all those folks who like to drive their electric vehicle to the grocery store, to the shopping center, and it's like, Hey, cool. They got free chargers. Yeah, those will be gone. So good luck getting home nuclear energy and waste management because we, we don't need to

Properly disposing of nuclear waste, right? I mean, what's the worst that could happen with that? Uh, the National Park Service. So, you know that, that seems not good climate research because we're not gonna need a climate when we have a trillion dollars in the military complex. We'll just kill all the other countries and then boom, they don't pollute anymore. There's your climate research libs, science research, housing assistance. So we're gonna have more unhoused people across the country, healthcare programs and disease prevention. Yeah, because, 'cause 'cause we've never been crippled by a disease here in the United States, right? It's not like we have almost 900 cases of frigging measles at the moment. Heating and cooling assistance for low-income Americans, like I mentioned, and of course, education spending because nobody cares. If your children is learning to paraphrase George W. Bush, this is what the country will look like. We will be poorer, we will be fewer because people will die. We will be dumber. But hey, we'll have the best military on the planet at a trillion dollars plus a year.
