YouTube Description
as posted by the channelMAGA Republicans, and even Donald Trump, love to label anyone who doesn’t belong to their cult as a person suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” But according to therapists and mental health professionals, it is actually the Trump-lovers who are suffering from a clear mental disorder. In fact, their “Daddy Trump” talking points are exactly what Freud talked about, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.

So during the 2024 campaign, um, we saw a lot of Republicans, including high profile Republicans, like Tucker Carlson, start calling Trump, daddy Trump, or using some kind of weird daddy message, you know, like daddy's coming home and you've been a naughty girl. It's actually kind of what Tucker Carlson said, which was weird and creepy. But then of course, a week or so ago, over at the un you had the un uh, uh, secretary say that sometimes daddy has to use foul language, referring to Donald Trump using the F-bomb when talking about Israel and Iran. So this whole daddy thing, which by the way, Republicans seized on that pull, pulled the clip, put it all over social media. This big Trump is our daddy thing, is definitely creepy. It's definitely weird. And according to mental health professionals, it's pretty much some kind of, uh, you know, indication that something ain't quite right.
And what I love about this, before I even get into what these therapists and mental health professionals said, I want to take a second to talk about the fact that these are the same people. You know, these Republicans who are like, Ooh, come here, daddy, be my president. Right? These are the same people who, if you ever say like, Hey, I don't really like Trump. They're like, Ooh, you got Trump derangement syndrome. You are mentally ill. There's something wrong with you. You freak accusing us, of course, of having some kind of mental disorder. But according to the people who actually know how mental disorders work, it's those people that are suffering. You know, those cult members who we already knew were suffering from some kind of mental derangement, but now they've also got the Freudian issues. One therapist said, my initial reaction to the video was Freud was right.
While Freud may have held some problematic views, he definitely got a few things right. He argued that people often seek powerful authority figures to fulfill an unconscious desire for protection and guidance, just like a child does with a parent. And now, this report from the HuffPost that of course talked to these therapists, they continues saying conservatives in particular are pulled in by father-like figures. President Ronald Reagan was nowhere near the likes of authoritarian leaders like Putin or Orain. But certain aspects of his presidency align with traits associated with strong men. Charisma, wielded by a commanding older man, a father knows best approach to global and domestic threats. So basically what's happening here, as you've got millions of these little MAGA acolytes out there, grew, grew up with daddy issues, you know, daddy wasn't there, daddy was maybe too strict, whatever it is, they got daddy
Issues. That's what these therapists, that's, and there's many more of them including, uh, linguistic experts, uh, again, mental health professionals, therapists, people holding PhDs who went to school to learn how to recognize these things. They're all telling us that these folks have serious issues. So basically, I guess the bottom line here is that we could have avoided Trump's first term and second term if more people went to therapy, if they learned how to work through this and get past it, we, we wouldn't have the authoritarian leaders that we have today, perhaps, right? So if you're gonna take anything away from this, let it be this. If, if you ever find yourself drifting towards authoritarianism, author, uh, toward fascism, which there have been multiple studies showing that this whole daddy issue thing is linked to people, uh, who do tend to prefer and almost sexualized fascism, that's what they say.
