Yeah. After Donald Trump shows up for the grand opening last week and Karoline Leavitt had been hyping it up for a couple weeks. Now DHS says, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is a Florida thing. We are not involved. And of course they say that as soon as the lawsuits get filed, because there is something called environmental review and according to the folks who filed this lawsuit, none of that happened. They just took this abandoned airstrip in the Everglades and started constructing on it. The Everglades, even though this is almost on the outskirts of it, is still a protected area. To do anything, including modifying existing structures, you have to go through this environmental review process. Nobody in the state of Florida did it. Department of Homeland Security didn't do it. So this seems like a fairly basic lawsuit saying, hey, the government has laws and rules and regulations they have to follow and they didn't even come close to it. So when things get real, this administration threw DeSantis right under the bus. And it was kind of hilarious to see that happen.

Well, interestingly, DeSantis raided the state FEMA money, $450 million is what the reporting is, to pay for this. So the state's own money with the understanding that the federal government would eventually pay him back. And out of this $450 million that he raided from the emergency disaster money, $1.1 million he has awarded to a campaign contributor to do services out there. So again, this is just scheming and plotting. You've created a crisis that doesn't exist. You ran out here and seized county land, which they're against imminent domain when it doesn't benefit them or when it's against their farm or something. But when it wants to build a detention facility, it's great. You raid money in a state that is known for hurricanes, that is to deal with the hurricanes, and you've also raided the money for predicting those hurricanes. It's just an absolute disaster. It's a category five disaster here in the Everglades where it gets over a hundred degrees, high humidity. But cruelty is the point, isn't it?

Oh, it absolutely is. That is, they've made it clear we put it here so that people could get eaten by alligators or suffocated by these pythons that are now this huge invasive problem down there. And to me, it's funny for Homeland Security to say, we're not paying for any of this when they actually do have an agreement with the state of Florida to reimburse. Now, I'm not a lawyer here, but I'm pretty sure if you've got an agreement to pay for something, that's kind of admission that, well, we are paying for it. We are going to give them the money. But DHS argues in their court filing, well, they haven't submitted any reimbursement requests yet. So we haven't paid for anything yet, so we can't be held liable. And again, last week, both Trump and DeSantis were like, oh, we buried the hatchet. We're good buddies now. We're such friends. And then the second it gets real, they say, nope. DeSantis did all of this. We got nothing to do with it. It's this guy. I love it. It's just crooks and liars going at it against each other, no matter what they say publicly, oh, we're friends. No, you threw him so hard under that bus the very second you thought you were gonna get in trouble.
