Federal workers are in an absolute panic this week after the Trump-loving US Supreme Court struck down a temporary judicial order that prevented more workers from being fired. This gives Trump the ability to continue his mass purge of the government, even as government agencies admit that they are too short-staffed to function properly. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

Even though the US Supreme Court is not in session, they are in fact off for their summer vacation. They decided to go ahead and throw the Trump administration yet another bone by striking down a lower court's, uh, temporary restraining order that had prevented the Trump administration from laying off even more federal workers. This, of course, is causing current federal workers to panic as they now fear that their jobs are going to be cut in short order. Specifically one employee with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said to, uh, reporters quote, we are toast. That's what he said to reporters of the Washington Post. We at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are toast, and that of course is probably unfortunately accurate. Seeing is how Republicans have wanted to get rid of the CFPB ever since it was founded. They hate it because it goes after corporations and of course stops them from doing the fraud that Republicans are telling us is so rampant and gives money back to consumers.
Like literally, this is an agency that gives money to consumers who have been defrauded. And Republicans say, we hate that idea. Like that should kind of tell everybody anything you need to know about what the Republican Party stands for. They would rather you lose money to corporate fraud than to call out the fraudsters and make them pay you back. They've made it clear who their alliances are with, and it's not with the working class, but we are at a point in America today where we have government agencies that now can fire people again, that are already telling us we don't have enough people to do the jobs we're supposed to be doing. Everybody is now overworked 'cause they're doing the job of several different people. But because this court order now, we're just gonna fire more.
Understand that mentality folks, these o the government agencies are telling us we don't have enough people, but we're gonna keep firing more. This is utter insanity that we are living in now. We technically only have a few days left until the hiring moratorium, uh, comes to an end, and these government agencies are of course going to start hiring more people. But that doesn't mean that they're not gonna continue firing people because you gotta think back to Project 2025. This isn't just about firing people from the government and then leaving the few remaining to do the jobs. Firing the people is step one, replacing them with Trump loyalists hardcore far right lunatics. That's step two.
That's what's about to begin. Meanwhile, the good people, the smart people, the people who know how to do the jobs, they're now living in fear that they're gonna be out of a job possibly in a matter of days, maybe even a matter of hours because of this right wing Supreme Court. Here's what Everett Kelly, the president of the nation's largest federal Union said, he said, this is a life altering decision for tens of thousands of American families. Federal employees across the country will sit at their dinner tables tonight with their layoff notice next to a pile of bills, knowing the Supreme Court's action just changed their lives forever, and they're wondering what they're going to do next to make ends meet. Now, it should be made clear that of course, this ruling from the Supreme Court doing away with the moratorium does not end the lawsuit from the federal workers that have been unfairly and unjustly laid off.
