Scientists are warning that the US is going to lose a generation of talent because of the Trump cuts, particularly to the National Science Foundation. Over 1600 different studies abruptly cut for no explanation other than some DOGE 20-year-old decided it was so. This is going to harm the United States for decades to come in ways that these little kids can't even wrap their brains around yet.

Scientists are warning that the US is going to lose a generation of talent because of the Trump cuts, particularly to the National Science Foundation. I was looking before we came on the show, and at least 1,653 active NSF research grants have so far been abruptly canceled. So they were approved by a multi-factor process. DOGE came in and said, no, no. So over 1600 different studies, these are not easy things to vet, not easy things to get to the scientific method, this is what we need to prove something, abruptly cut for no explanation other than some 20-year-old decided it was so.

Yeah, the NSF is the only government funded institution in this country that does the active investments into engineering, into biology, science and research. And they're all peer reviewed and they do peer review there of other studies from other individuals. Without that ability, without this major government investment and without all the scientists that have now been let go, we can't do that. The US will in fact fall behind. And when this first started, when Trump first came into office and DOGE started going through with their sledgehammer destroying everything, France immediately came out and issued a statement to US scientists saying, hey, come work for us. Come live in France, we'll bring you over here. We are not gonna stifle you. We're not gonna pull the rug out from under you. We'll become the leader in sciences in the world.

Why not? They are actively trying to poach our scientists and researchers and I can't blame them. Why not get ahead as the US continues to fall behind? Because as you said, you have these 19 and 20 year olds working at DOGE who have no idea about any of this. They're not biologists, they're not engineers, they're tech guys, and they're not even good tech guys. And they're the ones that made these decisions that could set back medical research by 30 to 50 years, engineering advancements going to be set back. This is going to harm the United States for decades to come in ways that these little kids can't even wrap their brains around yet.

Well, and this is just more political reactionism from the right. 60% of these grants are in states that voted for Joe Biden and 12%, 12% of all the grants that were cut were targeted at Harvard, specifically, which Trump has been grinding that ax almost this entire second term.

So as per usual, this administration turns everything political. If you did need to cut scientific grants, perhaps you actually did go through them and you realize, hey, wait a minute, there are some redundancies. We don't need all of this, or this study is not going to further mankind in any way. We'll get rid of that. But no, they said, look at the blue states. Find out what's happening there. Find out what's happening at the higher learning institutions that I hate and get them specifically, let's punish the blue states because we don't like smart people. This goes back to the 2004 election. That is when they really tried to turn this country against the so-called elites, the smart people. Oh, they went to an Ivy League school. Obviously they're evil and bad. That's what they were saying about John Kerry. He lives in a mansion. He married the Heinz lady. Obviously he's disconnected. George W. Bush, he's your down home guy. You just love to have a beer with him. Right? They did that. This was a calculated move a couple decades ago to turn the country against the elites, against the scientists and the smart folks. They did it with Al Gore too, with the climate scientists. This is the natural conclusion of it. Let's get rid of all the scientists because they're just these liberal elitists telling us what to do.

Yeah. This anti intelligentsia movement has been going on, as you say, for quite a long time.
