4:27Now PlayingThe Trump administration would give anything to make the Epstein scandal go away, but they are running into a ton of resistance from their own base. In fact, Marjorie Taylor Greene this week warned Trump that he can’t turn his back on those people and that he has a duty to them to release all of the Epstein files. Greene’s “warning” to Trump read more like a threat, and with people like her keeping the scandal alive, the headaches will only get worse for the administration. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what’s happening.

While some Republicans in Washington DC of course, would love nothing more than for the Epstein scandal to disappear and nobody ever speak of it again. There are plenty of other Republicans who understand we got a play to the base while also catering to Donald Trump's fragile ego and his even more fragile health at this point. And that is why of course we had Mike Johnson come out this week and say, house is leaving until September. Best of luck with your scandal, but we're not gonna do anything about it. And you have people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, so deep into MAGA that she can't even see straight who understands that you gotta respect the MAGA base because that's what's keeping her career alive. But at the same time, you gotta bow down to Donald Trump because if you don't, then you lose MAGA either way. So she is in the unenviable position of having to play both sides of the issue, and she's starting to lean a little more to one side than the other because Marjorie Taylor Greene came out this week on social media and issued what is kind of a threat to Donald Trump himself.
And in this threat that she posted to Trump. She referenced his comments last week, of course, about not needing them. They're troublemakers, they're stupid, while also saying, maybe I'll give you a couple files here and there, you know, a little bit of fish food files. Here you go. One or two. Don't wanna overdo it, don't want you guys to explode. But here is what Green said and her threat against Trump. If you tell the base of people who support you of deep state treasonous crimes, election interference, blackmail and rich, powerful, elite, evil cabals, then you must take down every enemy of the people. If not the base will turn and there's no going back. Dangling bits of red meat no longer satisfies. They want the whole steak dinner and will accept nothing else.
That might be the strongest warning threat, whatever you want to call it, that green has ever issued to Donald Trump. And we are starting to see her more and more, uh, break with Trump on on certain issues, right? She, she recently did on the issue of sending more more aid to Ukraine. So this is becoming a problem for Trump. If you lose green, you lose your biggest supporter in the country, not just in the house, not just in Congress, altogether in the country. And cracks are already starting to form there. Big cracks, perhaps permanent cracks, cracks to the point where green now feels empowered to stand up to you Donald. She's never done that before. She's never been that emboldened. You might wanna clamp down on that before she gets outta control. But on this particular issue, she's not wrong.
Now, I disagree with everything Marjorie Taylor Greene stands for. And of course in that post I just read to you, she did of course launch a lot of conspiracy theories. You know, the deep state, this cabal of shut the hell up, but on the Epstein issue, she is right. This is not going away and, and promising I'm gonna release the grand jury files and then literally not doing it. We're gonna release some of the other Epstein files and then not doing it. And then say we're gonna meet with Ghislaine Maxwell. And then God only knows what's gonna happen to her after that. Uh, that doesn't cut it. People want actual real information. Maga and non MAGA alike, we don't care who it takes down. You know, we on the left, we're not in a cult. We don't care if you take down a bunch of Democrats. We hope you do. If we've got pervs and sickos and abusers on our side, we want 'em gone. Unlike you guys who wanna protect them and cover up for it. And by the way, for all of her tough talk, green is also one of the Republicans who voted against the measure to actually release the Epstein files last week.
