And indeed Utah is a special place. We lead the nation in charitable giving. We lead the nation in service every year. Um, but it did happen here and it was one of us.
In a previous statement, Cox labeled the incident a "political assassination" and called for restraint, asking people to reflect on their reactions to the shooting. Cox described Kirk's murder as an attack on American democratic principles and emphasized the need to address political violence without reciprocating it.
This is certainly about the tragic death, assassination, political assassination of Charlie Kirk. But it is also much bigger than an attack on an individual. It is an attack on all of us. It is an attack on the American experiment. It is an attack on our ideals.
