As the political circus continues after the shooting of Charlie Kirk, one representative stands out as a premier buffoons. That clown is Louisiana Representative Clay Higgins. Higgins, like so many of the MAGA right, is a vile hypocrite using the murder of one man to fuel their quest to silence those who dare disagree with them. It is not appropriate, it is not legal, and certainly not constitutional.

As the political circus continues after the shooting of Charlie Kirk, one representative stands out as a premier buffoons. That clown is Louisiana Representative Clay Higgins.

In 2023, Higgins was co-sponsor of the performative bill, HR 140, titled Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act. It did not become law, but I want to show you the main thrust of it. Here under 7381, it is the policy of the Congress that employees acting in their official capacity should neither take action within their authority or influence to promote the censorship of any lawful speech, no advocate that a third party, including a private entity, censor such speech.

Higgins has now done a complete 180 writing on September 11, “I’m going to use Congressional authority and every influence with big tech platforms to mandate immediate ban for life of every post or commenter that belittled the assassination of Charlie Kirk. If they ran their mouth with their smartass hatred celebrating the heinous murder of that beautiful young man, those profiles must come down.”

On September 15, the representative true to his word, sent this letter to the CEOs of Meta, Youtube, Bluesky, X, TikTok and Trump Media and Technology Group. This is the actual letter. I want to read to you the second sentence here. “I ask that you reflect upon your own unique responsibility to participate in the very appropriate, legal and constitutionally sound response.”

He goes on to say, “The reasonable restriction of public statements that lie far beyond the standards of our own society is not an oppression of free speech, it is, rather, the protection of free speech.”

Of course, by Higgins own dubious logic he should banned from social media for life. When then speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband was violently attacked he belittled them both, spreading a demonstrably false conspiracy about who the attacker was.

That moment you realize the nudist hippie male prostitute LSD guy was the reason your husband didn’t make it to your fundraiser.

Higgins, like so many of the MAGA right, is a vile hypocrite using the murder of one man to fuel their quest to silence those who dare disagree with them. It is not appropriate, it is not legal, and certainly not constitutional. The people of Louisiana deserve better and the American people deserve better.
