It is, the work you do on the front end before a mission to really get to know the terrain, the climate, the enemy, all of the things around you in your battle space that you need to be familiar with at a micro level all the way out to a macro level and then back into a micro level.
Because as Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher says, know the enemy, know yourself and you will never lose in a thousand battles or something close to those words.
He was absolutely right. The more we can understand our enemy, our competition, our client, all of those factors, the human terrain and the domain in which we operate in our arena, the more informed and the more accurate we will be when the stakes are high.
