Through digital, print and live, public-facing events, we cover America. “I am an American” is part of a USA TODAY NETWORK initiative celebrating our country’s diversity through the stories that bind us together. This summer, storytellers from a variety of lived experiences will share stories on stage.
Some are funny (really funny), while others are intense. All of the stories are true, first-person narratives that carry the formidable spirit of how America is great because Americans – shaped by different backgrounds and life journeys – are great.
“I am an American” was produced in five cities – Phoenix; Nashville; Cincinnati; Des Moines; and Memphis, Tenn. in 2017. The live storytelling events are nights of intimate entertainment where we celebrate our differences through the power of story.
