Former Eton Master Will Knowland Speaks to G&T on His Dismissal

Will Knowland, is the English master who was dismissed from his job at Eton College in December last year in a blaze of publicity. He was fired because he refused to remove a controversial lecture from YouTube that railed against the excesses of feminism and instead celebrated a traditional notion of masculinity. The row over his dismissal has sparked an extraordinary civil war at the nation’s most prestigious school, with 3,000 boys and Old Boys signing a petition demanding his reinstatement. And it hasn’t ended there. His case has been seized on by free speech campaigners nationally as an example of cancel culture, and it is even now being picked up by MPs in Westminster now. In an exclusive first broadcast interview this morning, Will Knowand tells G&T why he did what he did, and reveals he is going to commence legal action against Eton this week, beginning with an employment tribunal for discrimination.

The college responses: “Any suggestion that the school or the Head Master ever implied or suggested that Mr Knowland’s dismissal related to anything other than the content of his video lecture and his refusal to temporarily remove the video is categorically untrue.

The Provost wrote to pupils, parents and staff to explain the decision and the school has made clear public statements on the matter.”
