Stalking is something that is often dismissed as a bit of a joke but it can be deadly serious and cause untold misery and fear. One in five women will be the victim of stalking according to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and there have been many high profile cases including Newsnight's Emily Maitlis and journalist Rosamund Urwin who works for the Sunday Times.

Sophie Walker is a well-known gender equality campaigner. She was a founding leader of the Women's Equality Party and is now Chief Strategy Officer at feminist law firm MacAllister Olivarius. She had campaigned to improve the law around stalking. Last year in April 2020, she found herself a victim of stalking herself and at the centre of what can only be described as a living nightmare.

Sophie Walker spoke to Ayesha Hazarika alongside her lawyer Sophie Naftalin of Bhatt Murpphy solicitors about her ordeal.
