1:52Now PlayingRussia has launched a military operation in Ukraine. Earlier reports suggested eastern Ukraine was the target but there have been loud explosions heard in the capital Kyiv and in the city of Kharkhiv. Overnight, Vladimir Putin railed against what he called "threats from Ukraine" and said that Moscow would seek its "demilitarisation and denazification".
This morning, The Times war correspondent Anthony Loyd, currently in Ukraine, told Times Radio: "There's been surface to surface missiles coming in at a nearby airfield just outside Kramatorsk.
"All public transport stopped, train links down, air travel, of course stopped. Roads are congested with people trying to leave."
Listen to Anthony Loyd, live from Ukraine as the country is invaded by Russia.
